About the project

As a Staff DevOps Engineer, you will lead the evolution and scaling of the cloud platform behind IKEA Kreativ, supporting millions of users globally and powering advanced 3D, AI, and visualization experiences. You will provide hands-on technical leadership across cloud infrastructure and platform engineering, setting technical direction and partnering with engineering, product, and internal service teams to improve reliability, scalability, security, developer experience, and operational efficiency across multiple cloud platforms.

How you'll contribute

• Provide hands-on technical leadership for the design and evolution of cloud architectures, platform services, and systems integrations in collaboration with engineering teams.

• Define and drive platform strategy and architectural standards across infrastructure, deployment systems, observability, reliability, and operational readiness.

• Own end-to-end technical outcomes for production systems, including reliability, scalability, security, maintainability, and continuous improvement.

• Lead complex, cross-team initiatives and technology roadmaps, aligning technical investments with product priorities and long-term platform needs.

• Identify and address systemic constraints affecting engineering velocity, developer experience, service reliability, cloud efficiency, and quality across teams.

• Establish and promote effective engineering practices through architecture reviews, design documents, code reviews, test automation, operational standards, and measurable service objectives.

• Mentor senior and experienced engineers, providing technical guidance, raising engineering standards, and enabling sound technical decision-making across teams.

• Partner with engineering and product leadership to evaluate trade-offs, manage technical risk, and communicate technical direction clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Participate in the existing on-call rotation and help improve incident response, post-incident learning, operational readiness, and prevention of recurring issues.

This would make you the ideal candidate

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 10+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, or closely related production engineering roles, or equivalent depth of hands-on production experience.

• Excellent software engineering capability with strong Computer Science foundations.

• 5+ years of experience with Kubernetes and Linux container tools.

• 4+ years of experience with CI/CD and GitOps workflows and tooling.

• 3+ years of experience with Python and Python web development.

• Demonstrated experience setting technical direction and designing architecture for complex cloud and platform systems used by multiple teams.

• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of production systems and their reliability, scalability, security, maintainability, and continuous improvement.

• Experience operating production services on cloud infrastructure, including incident response, troubleshooting, and on-call responsibilities, with the ability to make sound technical decisions independently when needed.

• Experience leading complex cross-team initiatives, coordinating technology roadmaps, managing technical risk, and influencing decisions without relying on formal authority.

• Experience mentoring senior engineers and improving engineering practices through architectural guidance, technical reviews, and knowledge sharing.

• Curious and proactive mindset, with a track record of understanding products and systems, identifying improvement opportunities, proposing solutions, and contributing beyond assigned tasks.

• Experience with Django and/or Django REST Framework, Google Cloud Platform, low-latency customer-facing applications, DAG or workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal or Airflow, infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices, or production SQL databases such as PostgreSQL would be a strong plus.

Advanced English Level is required for this role, as you will work with US clients. Effective communication in English is essential to explain technical trade-offs clearly, deliver the best solutions to our clients, and expand your horizons.
