Application Support Engineer


Main Function:


The Application Support Engineer will manage all business applications deployed across the vertically integrated business with particular focus on the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool, as well as integrated application(s) as well as any other solutions deployed across the business to support various strategic outcomes. In addition to operational functions, the role is also expected to support the Applications Support Manager to define and establish optimal practices for application management including any appropriate security protocols and provide in-depth technical consultations to divisions and staff throughout all stages of project development, encompassing business processes, policies, procedures, and methodologies.


The Application Support Engineer will primarily focus on:


· Planning and implementing for installation, configuration, and maintenance of applications for all divisions across the vertically integrated business and related internal customers.


· Planning and implementing application patch scheduling by conducting operational readiness and production readiness assessments for application releases and patches.


· Plan and implement the installation, assess, and optimize performance tuning needs of business applications.


· Document application installation and maintenance procedures comprehensively.


· Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to application incidents and problems by working with infrastructure team to and manage incident response for application issues.


· Strategize and coordinate the upgrading and testing of applications in collaboration with internal users and vendor and any other stakeholders.


· Ensure compliance of business applications with company security policies.


· Evaluate technical support requests and execute troubleshooting to resolve all user software/application issues.


· Uphold agreed-upon service levels, including project schedules and system availability.


· Identify emerging trends and best practices, ensuring proposed solutions align with group strategic goals and performance needs.


Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

 

· A first degree in computer science or a related field (preferred)

 

· 5+ years of experience as an Application Engineer or similar role

 

· Experience in software design, development, and integration. Proven understanding of Agile methodologies 5 Years experience working with ERP software and where experience in the production and distribution industry would be preferred.

 

· Experience working within ITIL framework for service delivery would be an asset.

 

· Proficiency in coding languages (e.g., Java, Python)

 

· Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) a plus

 

· Experience with databases (e.g. MS SQL, MYSQL)
