Automation Developer (Python / AI-Augmented)
TLDR
Work on scalable financial-data automation with Python and AI agents, building web-scraping, ETL pipelines, and API-driven integrations in a growth-focused FinTech setting.
Dynamo Software is a leading global FinTech Research and Portfolio Management SaaS provider offering an industry-tailored, highly configurable SaaS platform solving challenges across the alternative investment landscape. For more than 20 years, the Dynamo™ platform has improved the productivity of fundraising, deal, research, investor servicing, portfolio management, and compliance teams worldwide. Collectively, Dynamo’s 1,000+ clients manage over $10 trillion in assets. Backed by the largest Private Equity firms in the world – Blackstone Growth and Francisco Partners, Dynamo is seeking to grow our team based on rapidly increasing demand for our financial technology solutions.
We're looking for an Automation Developer to join our Python + AI automation team that builds and runs financial-data automation at scale - web automation, ETL pipelines, and integrations feeding a large data platform.
What makes this team different is how the work gets done. We've invested heavily in an AI-augmented engineering setup: we work alongside coding agents and internal tooling every day, with strong guardrails and review discipline. Operating effectively in this environment is a real part of the job, on top of solid engineering fundamentals.
The honest framing: typing code is no longer the constraint here. Specifying intent clearly and reviewing output rigorously is. We're looking for an engineer who is strong on the fundamentals (because that's exactly how you judge what an agent produces) and fluent at directing agents to move faster without losing control of correctness, security, or maintainability.
Your daily life:
- Build and maintain Playwright (Python) web-automation and data-extraction pipelines - increasingly LLM-assisted for resilience to DOM changes and for pulling structured data out of messy HTML and PDFs, with schema validation and deterministic fallbacks so cost, latency, and hallucination stay under control. We keep the hard-coded scraper where it's the right tool and reach for a model where it earns its place.
- Design, build, and maintain Python automation and ETL pipelines that feed financial data into our data platform - using coding agents to accelerate implementation while you own the design, the data-correctness guarantees, and the review of everything that ships (AI-generated or not).
- Develop and support systems that communicate via RESTful APIs - and, where it helps, expose internal systems and data as agent-callable tools with safe auth and read-only scoping.
- Work alongside our coding agents day to day: write the spec and step plan before code is generated, structure the context an agent gets (the right files, conventions, and constraints), review its diffs critically, and stay accountable for the result. We also use multi-step automated flows, so part of the job is knowing when orchestration adds value and when it's over-engineering.
- Debug and resolve production issues across automations, pipelines, and integrations - including automations running unattended on a schedule.
- Write and maintain unit, integration, and contract/regression tests - including tests that pin down LLM-assisted components and eval sets that catch quality regressions when a prompt or model version changes.
- Create and maintain SQL stored procedures and views; monitor and improve existing automations for reliability and performance.
- Contribute to our internal tooling and shared knowledge: improve how we direct agents, capture useful patterns, and raise the team's overall leverage.
- Drive technical design through written specs and plans reviewed before implementation, and collaborate with project managers, product owners, and developers on design, estimates, and priorities.
What you bring:
- 3-5+ years of professional Python and SQL experience.
- Strong experience with web automation / scraping, ideally Playwright (Selenium is a plus).
- Experience building and maintaining Django applications.
- Hands-on RESTful API work: design, integration, and debugging.
- Solid grasp of ETL processes and data pipelines, plus the engineering discipline that makes financial data trustworthy - Decimal for money, parameterized SQL, specific
- exceptions, retries with backoff. (These are also exactly the things you'll be checking in AI-generated code.)
- Experience writing automated tests (unit / integration) and a habit of testing the things others skip.
- Working familiarity with pandas / numpy, Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL, and Git-based collaborative workflows.
- AI fluency as table stakes: you already use a coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) daily for real implementation, debugging, and refactoring on a production codebase - not just for snippets. You can walk us through a recent feature you built with an agent: what you delegated, what you kept in your own hands, where it went wrong, and how you caught it.
- Critical-reading discipline: you read agent diffs for correctness, security (injection, secrets handling, path traversal / SSRF in scrapers), hidden complexity, and silent scope creep - and you don't merge work you can't fully explain.
- Strong debugging skills and a system-oriented mindset.
Bonus skills:
- Building agentic systems hands-on: Claude Code / the Anthropic SDK, MCP servers, LangGraph, Dify, n8n, or comparable frameworks. Authoring even a small MCP server that safely exposes an internal API or database to an agent is a strong signal.
- Spec-and plan-driven development: turning a vague ticket into a written design spec with explicit scope boundaries, "out of scope," acceptance criteria, and verification steps before any code is generated.
- RAG / knowledge-base engineering: chunking, embeddings, hybrid (vector + keyword/BM25) retrieval, and actually measuring retrieval quality
- LLM-assisted scraping and extraction: making pipelines robust with schema validation and deterministic fallbacks - and clear judgment about when NOT to put a model in the loop for auditable financial data.
- Systematic evaluation of AI outputs: eval sets, regression/contract tests for non-deterministic components, LLM-as-judge (and its pitfalls), and tracking accuracy/cost across model versions.
- Multi-agent / orchestrated workflows (nice-to-have, not table stakes): coordinating specialized agents and knowing when one agent beats three.
- Reliability of autonomous systems: guardrails, evals, and trusting an agent to run unattended safely.
- Other scripting languages (C#, Bash, PowerShell), CI/CD pipelines, scheduling/orchestration (cron, Airflow, Windows Task Scheduler), and monitoring/logging tools.
Who you are:
- You pull AI into your own workflow to move faster, and you're opinionated about it - you can argue convincingly for when an agent is the right tool and when a 20-line deterministic function, a SQL view, or a plain script wins on cost, reliability, and auditability.
- You take full accountability for what ships regardless of who (or what) wrote it. When an agent-written pipeline corrupts data in production, you consider that your problem to have prevented and to fix.
- You care about reliable autonomous systems - guardrails, evals, and software that runs correctly while nobody is watching - not demos that work once.
- You work autonomously, delegate effectively to agents, verify their output, and communicate design through clear written specs.
-
Open-minded and collaborative, with a genuine appetite to learn and to raise the bar for the whole team.
What we offer:
- The ability to have an impact. Good ideas come from everyone in our organization, and we are agile enough to embrace new ideas and directions.
