Core Java Developer

As a Core Java Developer reporting to Sr. Director – Software Engineering, you'll play a critical role in building and enhancing high-performance transaction processing systems that power real-time financial markets infrastructure at Nasdaq.
You'll thrive in this position if you're analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about writing clean, high-quality code in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Key Responsibilities
Write code implement new features that improve system performance and deliver measurable outcomes.
Analyze technical requirements to assess feasibility and provide accurate delivery estimates.
Actively participates in the design process, bringing a solution-focused perspective.
Create clear documentation for new features, test scenarios, and processes to support quality assurance and production teams.
Investigate and resolve production issues promptly, ensuring system stability and client continuity.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum 4 years of professional software development experience, with strong proficiency in Java.
Experience in Core Java, Linux, SQL.
Experience building or maintaining real-time, high-throughput transaction processing systems.
Solid understanding of network communication protocols and distributed system fundamentals.
Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of financial markets or experience working on trading or financial platforms.
Familiarity with low-latency system design and performance optimization.
Flexibility to occasionally engage with global teams outside of standard working hours, as needed.
This position will be located in Sydney, Australia and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 2 days a week in-office (may increase to 3 days in the future).
This is a permanent, full-time role so candidates should have full working rights in Australia. To be eligible to apply, you must have Australian citizenship or permanent residency status.
