Alva Energy, Inc

Deputy Director, Project Management Organization

Alva Energy is scaling “extended power uprates” and related FOAK/NOAK projects across the U.S. nuclear and large-industrial power fleet. We pair rigorous engineering with modern project delivery to unlock gigawatt-scale, low-carbon generation capacity.

This role is a launchpad into senior leadership within Alva’s project delivery organization. You’ll be embedded with experienced nuclear project managers to co-lead work packages and own critical scope. Within ~3 years you will be ready to step into a Senior Project Manager / Director position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project leadership & delivery: Drive end-to-end execution (initiation → front-end planning → design → procurement → construction/installation → commissioning → turnover).

  • Execution planning & governance: Establish the Project Execution Plan, work breakdown structure (WBS), change control, and governance cadence.

  • Planning & controls: Develop, monitor, and control the integrated master schedule in Primavera P6 (or similar); lead weekly/monthly schedule and cost reviews.

  • Work packaging: Implement and manage engineering/construction/testing work packages aligned to WBS and field execution.

  • Cost management: Own forecasting, earned value / value of work done (VOWD), accruals, and contingency management using modern cost tools.

  • Contracts & procurement: Partner with Supply Chain on sourcing strategy; develop scopes of work (SOWs), technical exhibits, and evaluation criteria.

  • Engineering interface: Coordinate multi-discipline design with EPC/AE partners; drive design reviews, constructability, and startup readiness.

  • Risk, quality, and safety: Maintain risk registers with owners/mitigations; manage quality plans and inspection & test plans (ITPs); champion EHS and nuclear safety culture.

  • Stakeholder communication: Build executive-facing progress reporting; manage external partners and site relationships.

  • FOAK mindset: Stand up new processes where none exist; capture lessons learned and translate them into repeatable playbooks.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering (mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, nuclear, or related).

  • 5–10 years of hands-on engineering experience (design, analysis, field, or construction engineering).

  • Proven delivery on major capital projects (>$200M) in large industrial, power, or very large civil environments.

  • Project controls / planning exposure (Primavera P6) and work package planning experience.

  • Experience coordinating with civil/structural engineering teams.

  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to brief executives and partners.

  • Contracts and procurement exposure (SOWs, bid/evaluation, change management).

Compensation:

  • Four weeks paid time off, plus 11 company holidays and 2 weeks of paid sick or family leave

  • 401k matching, comprehensive health insurance
