Graduate Intern - Electrical/Controls Engineer

TLDR

Design electrical systems, integrate control software, and test battery storage systems using schematics, firmware, and commissioning procedures.

  • Support design of electrical systems and electronic assemblies .
  • Create electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and field wiring diagrams
  • Support the design of control panels for 3-phase 400V systems and HV DC
  • Specify and select electrical components including switchgear, protection devices
  • Support software integration, debugging, software maintenance, and version management
  • Develop testing specifications and commissioning procedures for systems
  • Optimise firmware for maximum performance, reliability and efficiency
  • Support build of systems, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
  • Coordinate with I/O circuits for main controllers and safety systems
  • Generate technical documentation and work activities
  • Hands-on experience in electrical, electronics, controls or automotive engineering
  • Knowledge of micro-controllers and electrical system wiring
  • Interest in computer science and software development, code in spare time
  • Experience working with electrical and mechanical components
  • Ability to work proactively with minimal support using a logical approach in an environment with minimal documented processes
  • Must be self-motivated and an effective team player
  • Eligible to work in the UK.

Nice-to-haves

  • A basic understanding of High Voltage vehicle systems and safety.
  • Experience in a Formula student team
  • Knowledge of battery system technology including cell chemistries, BMS etc.
