Hardware Design Engineer (mid -Sr Level)

SAM Labs makes the most entertaining smart toys that inspire every child to discover the fun in coding and creating. Our construction kits teach children how to code by combining physical products, a digital app and mobile games.

We are on the hunt for an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to join one our product team. This is a rare opportunity to work at a London-based business that combines hardware and software, entertainment and education during this exciting and transformational phase of the company’s growth. You will be responsible for supporting our current portfolio and working on new products. Reporting to VP Product, you will help take our business to the next level.

Responsibilities

• Maintain current portfolio of products
• Design and prototype new products
• Support manufacturing team
• Ensure the design can be adequately tested and verified
• Assist in obtaining product certification   

Requirements

• Bachelor or Master in Electronic Engineering or similar education 
• Understanding of the full life cycle Hardware Design from product development through to manufacturing.
• Knowledge of Analogue/ Digital circuit design
• Good understanding of electronics manufacturing (design for manufacturing, design for testing)
• Experience with schematic design, layout design and general PCB practices,
• Knowledge of EMC considerations in product design
• Awareness of the certification process
• Basic programming experience, ideally embedded C.
• Experience with wireless technologies, BLE preferable
• Knowledge of Electronic Engineering best practices and common pitfalls
