iOS Developer (Field Services)

Role Overview and Team Mission

You will play a key role in developing and evolving the iOS application that powers our field services operations, creating a critical bridge between technicians in the field and our core ERP system. Your work will focus on building high-performance, reliable mobile experiences that allow technicians to access, capture, and synchronize operational data in real time - even in challenging field conditions with limited or unreliable connectivity. 

As an iOS developer, you will be responsible not only for implementing new functionality, but also for shaping the architecture, performance, reliability, and long-term evolution of the iOS application.

Core Responsibilities

As an iOS developer, you will navigate a workload focused primarily on native mobile development while maintaining a strong understanding of the backend services and systems that support the application. 

• iOS Application Development: Architect and develop complex business logic and user experiences for our iOS applications. You will build highly responsive, intuitive interfaces designed specifically for technicians working in demanding field environments. You will leverage modern Apple development technologies and frameworks to deliver reliable, maintainable, and high-performance mobile software. 
• Backend Integration and Optimization: Work closely with our backend engineers to identify and resolve any issues, optimize the systems that support the mobile app, and troubleshoot any issues. 
• Codebase Evolution: Systematically support, optimize, and refactor the existing iOS codebase. You are expected to proactively identify opportunities for architectural improvements, modernization, and reorganization that improve stability, maintainability, performance, and execution speed. 
• Quality and Reliability: Establish and maintain high standards for testing, debugging, error handling, accessibility, and application performance. You will be expected to investigate issues across the full application stack and identify root causes rather than simply treating symptoms. 

AI Innovation and Future-Proofing

You should have a fundamental understanding of how modern AI technologies and models work "below the surface," including concepts such as inference, model capabilities, latency, resource consumption, and the tradeoffs involved in running AI-powered functionality in a mobile environment. 

A certain percentage of this role will involve helping determine how AI capabilities can be integrated efficiently into our iOS applications and proprietary mobile framework while maintaining appropriate performance, reliability, privacy, and user experience. 

Technical Requirements

• Native iOS Development: proficiency with Swift and strong experience developing production iOS applications using Xcode and the Apple SDK ecosystem. 
• Modern Apple Frameworks: Strong experience with SwiftUI and/or UIKit, along with modern technologies such as Swift Concurrency (async/await), Combine, URLSession, Core Data, and other relevant Apple frameworks. 
• Mobile Architecture: Solid understanding of mobile application architecture, design patterns, dependency management, state management, networking, local persistence, and maintainable code organization. 
• Networking and API Integration: experience integrating RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, handling asynchronous operations, authentication, error handling, caching, and reliable data synchronization. 
• Offline and Distributed Systems: understanding of applications operating with unreliable connectivity, including local storage, synchronization strategies, retries, conflict resolution, and eventual consistency. 
• Backend Understanding: competency, particularly enough to understand, troubleshoot, and debug the services supporting the iOS application 

Preferred Experience

• Proficiency with developing and maintaining native iOS applications and/or software. 
• Proficiency with both UiX/UX iOS performance profiling and debugging tools, including Instruments, Xcode debugging tools, and memory/performance analysis.
