iOS Development Instructor (Evening)
TLDR
Instruct iOS fundamentals from Swift/Xcode to MVC and APIs, mentor students, prepare materials, and lead workshops in a collaborative Tech Talent South program.
Understanding Your Role:
As an instructor, you are responsible for the student experience in and out of the classroom. These responsibilities specifically lie in the realm of instruction as it pertains to the curriculum set forth by Tech Talent South.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead instruction of course material in specified class hours.
Attend and mentor students during office hours.
Be available to mentor students outside of class and office hours.
Preparing and creating materials, coursework, and homework for students.
Lead workshops in tandem with community organizers.
As a TTS team member, you also will:
Actively participate and contribute to weekly team calls
Teach in a rewarding atmosphere
Take on occasional side projects that may, or may not, be exclusive to your campus.
In this course you'll start from the ground up with the iOS SDK, Xcode, and Swift (Apple's new programming language). The iOS course covers the development and best practices for building, testing, debugging, and deploying iOS apps. Learn about what Apple brings to the table and how you'll work with the tools they provide! By the end of the course you'll understand core concepts and how they work together in your apps like Model-View-Controller (MVC), segues and navigation, APIs, and much more! This course will cover the “do’s and don'ts” of iOS mobile development, methods for connecting the UI to your code, and tips for making responsive layouts that display correctly on different screen sizes.
What we're looking for:
Skills and experience in the topic(s) you’ll be teaching in class. These topics could include, but are not limited to:
Swift Data Types and Flow Control
Swift Functions
Swift Value Types: Enums and Structs
Swift classes and OOP
More important than deep technical experience is the ability to communicate effectively to beginners. Someone with good communication skills and social aptitude is key.
Someone with a passion and understanding of teaching code. Dedication, persistence, patience, attention to detail, and enthusiasm are great characteristics for this role.
