Lead DevOps Engineer
TLDR
Design and manage a secure, scalable Modeling & Simulation DevSecOps platform for cloud and on-premises deployments.
Responsibilities
Platform Architecture & Implementation
- Architect, implement, and configure the M&S DevSecOps Platform, including core platform services, to support cloud and on-premises deployments.
- Design scalable and secure infrastructure solutions that meet the operational needs of Joint and Air Force training environments.
Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management using IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with integrated security tools (e.g., GitLab, SonarQube, Fortify) to ensure secure and efficient software delivery.
Containerization & Orchestration
- Manage and optimize containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Implement and maintain container orchestration solutions to support modernized M&S systems.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Ensure platform reliability, availability, and compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards, including RMF and NIST 800-53 frameworks.
- Collaborate with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities and implement security best practices across the platform.
Collaboration & Modernization Support
- Work closely with development, security, and operations teams to support system modernization, transition engineering, and sustainment efforts.
- Provide technical leadership in integrating DevSecOps practices into the software development lifecycle.
Monitoring & Optimization
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure platform performance and operational readiness.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize platform performance, scalability, and security.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Active Secret clearance required.
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 7 years in DevSecOps roles across multiple projects.
- Hands-on experience with programming languages such as C++ and Python, as well as DevSecOps tools and practices.
- Proven experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Must possess Security+ CE or Linux+ certifications.
- Expertise in designing and managing CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevSecOps practices.
- Strong knowledge of DoD cybersecurity compliance frameworks, including RMF and NIST 800-53.
- Proficiency in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
