How We Calculate Salaries

Every salary statistic on Startup Jobs is computed from real startup job postings with disclosed compensation — 418,056 postings in the last 12 months alone. No surveys, no self-reported numbers.

Real startup jobs

All salary data comes from actual startup job postings that include verified compensation ranges. When a posting lists a salary range, we use the midpoint of that range.

Quality over quantity

We only show salary statistics when there are enough underlying job postings to be meaningful, so you're seeing real trends rather than one-off numbers.

Outlier filtering

Charts show the 95th percentile instead of the absolute maximum, and ranges span the 5th to 95th percentile. This filters out extreme outliers while showing what top compensation really looks like.

Global comparison

International salaries are converted to USD, making it easy to compare compensation across countries and regions.

Recalculated monthly

All statistics are recalculated every month to keep pace with the startup market. Most recent calculation: August 2026.

What we report

For each role, country, and company we report the median, average, 5th percentile, and 95th percentile of yearly compensation, along with the sample size behind every number.
