Senior Full Stack Java Developer

About the role 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Full Stack Java Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable, cloud-native applications across multiple technology stacks. The successful candidate will have strong experience developing modern web applications and distributed services using TypeScript, Node.js, Java/Kotlin, and Spring Boot, while working within an agile product delivery environment. 

This role requires hands-on development expertise, strong software engineering practices, and the ability to collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, DevOps Engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

• Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack applications and microservices. 

• Build responsive web applications and APIs using TypeScript and Node.js. 

• Develop robust backend services using Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot. 

• Integrate applications with cloud-native storage and services, including Amazon S3. 

• Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures. 

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices. 

• Participate in solution design, code reviews, technical workshops, and architectural discussions. 

• Optimize application performance, scalability, security, and reliability. 

• Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments. 

• Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of production issues. 
• Contribute to technical standards, development frameworks, and reusable components. 

Must-Have Qualifications  

A successful candidate will typically have 5+ years of software engineering experience, with proven expertise in building scalable, cloud-native applications 

Backend Development 

• Strong commercial experience with:  

• Java and/or Kotlin 

• Spring Boot 

• Building REST APIs and microservices architectures 

• Dependency injection and enterprise application design patterns 

Full Stack Development 

• Extensive experience with:  

• TypeScript 

• Node.js 

• Modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js 

• API integration and full-stack application development 

Database Technologies 

• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as:  

• PostgreSQL 

• MySQL 

• MongoDB 

• DynamoDB 

Engineering Practices 

• Strong understanding of:  

• Agile delivery methodologies 

• CI/CD pipelines 

• Automated testing 

• Git version control 

• Secure coding practices 

• Performance tuning and monitoring 

 

Nice-to-Have  

• Experience in the UK financial sector or financial sector in general. Knowing their strict compliance, risk, and security rules gives you a major edge.
