Automation Systems Group

The Automation Systems Group is responsible for the design, construction and support of innovative data center automation and control infrastructure. The department collaborates with Operations, Sales, Engineering, Information Technology and Management to ensure the system continues to fulfill Vantage customer requirements. Automation Systems works closely with partner contractors to come up with the best design and helps manage these partners to success by providing accurate requirements, goals, and timelines. In addition to design and construction, we are also responsible for the technical requirements of the Operations department involving solving problems, calibrating, and repairing critically important control systems throughout all Vantage locations.

Position Overview

Vantage is looking for an ambitious, diligent, hands-on Senior SCADA Systems Developer to lead software development for construction of Vantage facilities. You will review mechanical and electrical drawings, sequence of operation documents, and instrumentation diagrams to assist in building visualization applications for new builds on a variety of system platforms. You will also be called on to fix existing automation systems in a live, critically-important environment, and complete startup, commissioning, and validation procedures on new and existing critical data center infrastructure.

Essential Job Functions

• Develop, deploy, and repair HMI applications for new & existing control systems, with minimal supervision.
• Complete SCADA software application modifications in an online, critical environment.
• Identify and resolve HMI, network, and other critical control system issues during an incident.
• Support data center commissioning activities, including contractor management, validation of hardware and software systems, alarming, data recovery, and functional logic.
• Work with innovative automation systems from large scale industrial controls vendors.

Duties

• Collaborate with the Design, Engineering, and Construction team during projects, the Reliability Engineering team, and Site Operations team for sustaining existing automation architecture.
• Support the start-up and testing of complex control systems that are tied to the SCADA system.
• Examine project documents, including Mechanical and Electrical drawings, Sequences of Operation, Bill of Materials, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, and project schedules when developing automation logic and visualization applications.
• Train Site-Operations personnel how to use the SCADA platform for Critical Facility system monitoring.
• Create Controls Architecture Documents to include Networking Topology & IP Scheme for new data centers.
• Manage other integration team members and staff augmented personnel.

Job Requirements

• Advanced knowledge of Ignition (by Inductive Automation) software platform is required.
• 5 years of experience in Industrial Automation SCADA development required, 7 to 9 years preferred.
• Data Center experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of automation systems (control loops, field IO, etc.) in a critically important environment
• Knowledge of industrial PLC systems manufactured by Rockwell Automation & Carel
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science is desirable but not required.
• Travel required is expected to be 25 to 50% but may increase over time as the business grows.
