Small Animal Veterinarian

We are looking for a Small Animal Veterinarian to join our established and supportive team on a permanent, full-time basis at Pet Doctors The Gardens in Dunedin. 

The Role

• 34 hours per week across 4 days
• 1:5 Saturday roster
• No on-call required
• Dedicated balance of consulting, medicine and 2 surgery days per week
• We’re looking for a confident and experienced vet who enjoys case continuity, collaboration, and delivering a high standard of care.

The Gardens Veterinary Clinic has been part of the North Dunedin community for over 30 years, with a loyal, engaged client base. Our spacious, well-equipped clinic includes:

• Dedicated surgical suite
• Dental X-ray
• Idexx in-house lab (including Sedivue)
• Ultrasound
• Separate dog and cat wards (Cat Friendly focus)
• You’ll join a long-standing team of 5 veterinarians, supported by a skilled and dedicated nursing team. We place a strong emphasis on collaboration, case discussion, and continuing development.

What You’ll Bring

• BVSc (or equivalent) and eligibility for NZ registration
• Solid clinical experience in small animal practice - ideally 5+ years
• Confidence in both medicine and surgery
• A genuine commitment to patient care and client relationships
