Your Mission
ClearEdge is hiring a Software Engineer IV to design, develop, sustain, and enhance complex operational data flow systems. This role focuses on creating, managing, and troubleshooting large-scale data storage, transport, management, security, compliance, and knowledge store solutions.
You will work directly with customers to perform exploratory data analysis, transform raw data into required formats, and improve the reliability and performance of operational data processing systems. In addition to hands-on engineering, you will provide technical leadership, contribute to system design decisions, and ensure software quality across the development lifecycle.
You Will Excel in This Role If You:
Have deep experience designing and troubleshooting complex operational data flows
Are highly proficient in Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting
Have strong experience designing and implementing Java-based solutions
Are experienced administering and developing dataflows using Apache NiFi
Enjoy working directly with mission customers to analyze and transform raw data
Understand data security, compliance, and corporate data flow processes
Are comfortable leading development efforts and ensuring software quality standards
Can evaluate hardware/software trade-offs and recommend optimal technical solutions
Thrive in environments requiring both hands-on development and technical leadership
A Day in the Life:
Designing, sustaining, and troubleshooting operational data flows across storage and transport systems
Administering and developing data processing workflows using Apache NiFi
Performing exploratory data analysis to clean, enrich, and transform mission data
Developing Java-based solutions and writing Bash/Python/Perl scripts to support automation and data processing
Integrating COTS, GOTS, and OSS technologies into mission environments
Ensuring compliance with corporate data security and governance policies
Reviewing and testing software components to ensure adherence to design requirements
Coordinating with system and hardware engineers to derive requirements and validate interfaces
Providing technical oversight, improving development standards, and ensuring quality control across team products
Must Have:
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph within the last seven (7) years
Master’s degree in a related field and ten (10) years of SWE experience, or Bachelor’s degree a related field and twelve (12) years of SWE experience, or fourteen (14) years of SWE experience
Experience developing in Unix/Linux environments
Strong proficiency using Linux CLI tools
Experience writing scripts using Bash and Python
Experience designing and implementing Java solutions
Experience with Apache NiFi system administration
Experience using Apache NiFi canvas to process and distribute data
Experience creating, managing, and troubleshooting complex operational data flows
Experience using collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
Working knowledge of Configuration Management tools and Web Services implementation
Experience with Agile development processes and Git source control
Nice to Have:
Experience with corporate data flow processes and enterprise tools
Experience with corporate data security and compliance procedures
Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain Perl scripts and applications
Experience with relational and non-relational databases
Experience serving as technical lead for multiple development teams
