D&E Department
The Development & Engineering (D&E) team drives the technology, innovation and new development of data center infrastructure across Vantage’s companywide portfolio. D&E evaluates new sites, drives cost and scheduling in line with corporate goals and serves as subject matter experts across the entire project lifecycle from concept through commissioning. The team collaborates with Sales, Operations and management along the way. D&E also works hand in hand with the Construction team to come up with a vertically integrated design and ensures new and existing standards and designs are executed effectively. Position Description
We are looking for an ambitious, detail-oriented, hands-on Senior SCADA Systems Developer to lead software development for construction of new data center facilities. You will review sequence of operation documents, and instrumentation diagrams to create/adapt visualization applications for new builds on a variety of system platforms. You will also be called on to troubleshoot existing automation systems in a live, mission-critical environment, and complete startup, commissioning and validation procedures on new and existing mission critical data center infrastructure.
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and deploy new HMI applications for new control system projects, with minimal supervision
- Complete HMI application modifications in an online, critical environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve HMI, network and other critical control system issues during an incident.
- Support data center commissioning activities, including validation of hardware and software systems, alarming, data recovery, and functional logic
Duties
- Collaborate with members of the Design, Engineering, and Construction team during projects, as well as members of the Operations Engineering team, and Site Operations team for sustaining existing automation architecture
- Work with leading edge automation systems from large scale industrial controls vendors
- Coordinate integration support schedules, allowing for sufficient time to program, test, and commission mission critical control systems
- Examine project documents, including Sequences of Operation, Bill of Materials, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, and project schedules when developing automation logic and visualization applications
- Challenge the status quo, and think outside of the box to build ultra-reliable, ultra-efficient data center automation systems
- Support the network switch configuration in the BMS OT Network on projects in collaboration with the IT Project team
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics or equivalent work experience required
- Industrial automation systems commissioning experience is required
- Data Centre experience is strongly preferred, but not required
- Skilled at developing & adapting SCADA systems components as well as performing full scale integration and testing
- Advanced knowledge of Ignition (by Inductive Automation) or another mainstream SCADA software platform is required
- Travel required is expected to be 25 to 50% but may increase over time as the business evolves
