US Synthetic has an immediate need for a Bearings Customer Engineer located in Orem, UT. While under the mentoring of a Customer Engineer II, the Bearings Customer
Engineer will design diamond bearings according to customer specifications while managing the products and accounts they are assigned to.

What You Will Do:  

  • Assigned to a customer(s) as an account manager 
  • Responsible for assigned customer’s sales 
  • Drive development of new product lines and improved products for 

         customer(s)  

  • Understand and review customer needs, determine requirements, 

         feasibility of efforts, and resources to satisfy needs  

  • Interact with customers on engineering designs and 

         questions/problems  

  • Lead bearing design review meetings 
  • Communicate voice of customer issues to US Synthetic 

         management team  

  • Read, analyze and interpret complex engineering related documents 
  • Proficient with Creo 
  • Work closely with peers, research and development scientists, and 

         process engineers  

  • Effectively interact with production personnel to define and solve 

         manufacturing/PDC bearing design issues and improvement ideas  

  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring projects 
  • Prepare and report out on technical data related to products 
  • Keep immediate leader advised of work status, workload, problems, and 

         progress as related to work assignments  

  • Build strong relationships with customer(s) and vendors 
  • Travel to customer(s) locations (Average of 6-8 trips per year) 
  • Review operations and plans to meet requirements for sales planning and 

         to ascertain engineering requirements to develop new markets  

  • Use PDCA method to solve problems 
  • Participate in minimum of 1 kaizen event (weeklong training/projects) per year 
  • Work at GEMBA (where the work is done, i.e. mfg floor) to better see and solve problems 
  • Work with the operators and leaders on the production floor to develop 

         and implement projects  

  • Utilize lean manufacturing and product development principles in all 

         processes and product changes  

  • Follow all company policies (Attendance, No Tobacco Products on

        Appearance, Personal Electronic Devices, Vacation & Personal Time,  etc.)  

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Immigration sponsorship not available for this role 
  • Bachelor of science in engineering 
  • Minimum one year of engineering experience in bearing design or 

         Tribology  

Physical Demands:  

  • Moderate noise 
  • Able to lift 50 pounds 
  • Use of Safety Equipment (Safety Glasses, Steel-toe shoes)

  • People person, ability to develop quickly, and maintain, strong

  • Ability to resolve concerns quickly and effectively 
  • Knowledge on machine shop practices, methods and procedures 
  • Ability to speak in front of technical peers 
  • Ability to effectively utilize DOE 
  • Self-starter 
  • Mechanical aptitude 
  • Ability to lead and participate in cross-functional teams 
  • Able to work with others for the purpose of training and instructing 
  • production personnel following the job instruction method (TWI) 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 
  • Proficient with statistical analyzing software, i.e. Minitab, JMP, etc. 
  • Pass respirator fit test 
  • Ability to work flexible shift hours when need arises 
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, application and implementation 
  • Understand and analyze testing and metallurgical data 
  • Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others, working to maintain 

         constructive working relationships  

  • Problem solving skills 
  • Willing to be trained 
  • Capable of maintaining a neat workplace (5S)
