General Assembly is seeking an experienced Senior Visual Designer to join our Product Design team for a 4-8 week freelance engagement. The role may lead to a permanent position for the right candidate.

The role:

As our Senior Visual Designer, you’ll improve the layouts and user interface of our digital platform and learning management system (LMS). You’ll collaborate with our Product Design team to understand the needs and opportunities of our digital products, and learn about our brand and visual system. By absorbing our ux strategy, wireframes and existing designs, you will leverage our visual system to bring polish and sophisticated visual solutions to the platform, elevating our platform to a best-in-class experience.

The right candidate:

  • Has 5+ years experience as a digital designer, working primarily on platforms and digital products
  • Can show and speak to design solutions they’ve created within complex visual systems
  • Exhibits a very strong sense of typography
  • Has a high level of craft and attention to detail
  • Has ample experience working within a responsive grid and for multiple device types
  • Can easily read wireframes and bring them to life in a thoughtful way (doesn’t just “paint wireframes”)
  • Communicates clearly and effectively; isn’t afraid to ask questions
  • Collaborates easily and likes to problem-solve
  • Welcomes constructive criticism and incorporates feedback with ease
  • Has a clear understanding of best practices as well as technical capabilities and implications
  • Is fluent in Sketch and familiar with agile processes
