Head of Business Development

Forward is redesigning the delivery of healthcare from the ground up. We combine the best of modern technology (chatbots, sensors and artificial intelligence) with exceptional people to provide world-class care.

We need a skilled, bold leader to help Forward build and scale our BD function from the ground up. As the BD lead, you'll own growth partnerships to help scale the company's expansion in the coming years, as well as platform partnerships to expand services and capabilities we offer to our members.

Our focus is on consumer partnerships with like-minded, aspirational brands connected to consumer health and wellness, not on partnering with the legacy healthcare industry.

As the only national, tech-enabled, aspirational brand around healthcare delivery, Forward has a large universe of potential partners across multiple industries who have never had brand-appropriate partners to work with on healthcare deals. You'll help us navigate those opportunities and put a strategy in place for where to focus our time. You'll help build and manage the team to pursue those opportunities.

We were founded in January 2016 by former executives and engineering leaders from Google and Uber, and are funded by some of the world's best investors and entrepreneurs including Founder's Fund, Khosla Ventures, First Round Capital, Eric Schmidt (Google/Alphabet Chairman), Marc Benioff (Salesforce Founder), Joe Lonsdale (Palantir Founder), and Garrett Camp (Uber co-Founder).

  • Work with our founders and business units across the company to translate our company goals into a plan for what partnerships can best accelerate our progress
  • Build the team - hire, inspire and grow the best BD team to pursue your strategy
  • Cultivate relationships with other strong consumer brands related to health, wellness, tech, and real estate (as opposed to legacy healthcare providers)
  • Accelerate Forward’s growth by identifying new opportunities to scale real estate acquisition and distribution partnerships
  • Impact the product by finding product partnerships that expand Forward as a platform and unlock new capabilities for our members


  • Impactful - You’re deeply mission-driven, and you think there’s more to life than software that enables puppy ears to be superimposed in photos. (Although we agree those are cute.)
  • Entrepreneurial - You’re a self-starter who loves to own things end-to-end. You don’t ask for permission - you make it happen. If you're the only person in your function, you don't mind rolling up your sleeves and being the IC before the rest of the team is hired.
  • An Experienced Manager - You've built teams before. And you don't just manage people, you know how to make those around you better. You take care of your teammates.
  • A Problem Solver - You've solved ambiguous operational and growth problems, and are always looking for a new challenge. There's no off-the-shelf BD strategy for Forward - you can think out of the box to get to one.
  • > 10 years of experience. Startup experience is a major plus.
