The Fermentation Engineering group is hiring experienced engineers provide support for new project onboarding and validation into standard operations.

This role may also support engineering projects that either solve new technical challenges or investigation/optimization of existing processes.

 

Job Description and Specific Responsibilities

Immediate responsibilities include:

  •         New project onboarding - performing scale down/up of client processes via tech transfer - using engineering principles, assist with process development to define process to support programs
  •         Process operationalization for standard operation - define procedure, data review/reporting, and controls for process in standard operation
  •         Investigation and root causes analysis - drive process investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for robust process operation
  •         Continuous improvement in operation - identify inefficiencies in production processes, implement improvements, and work with people to track how effective implemented solutions are

 

Qualifications/Experience

Engineer 1: BA/BS is required plus >2 years of hands-on (set-up, inoculation, and process improvement) fermentation experience, preferably as an owner of a fermentation process. Other bioprocess experience outside fermentation is also applicable.

Engineer 2: BA/ BS with >5 years’ experience or a MS with 1 year of experience.

High level of independence is desired. We would like someone who can be given high level goals and they can coordinate their own schedule and will take initiative to execute.  The ideal candidate will have a considerable amount of fermentation experience, and a history of independent problem solving.

At scale fermentation experience is preferred as the position will require visiting client sites to learn commercial processes.

Proven experience as a team leader or project manager is preferred.

 

Additional Details
Problems in fermentation could arise during inopportune times, which may require extended onsite coverage outside normal work hours or remote monitoring.  Travel may be required for tech transfer visits.
