APAC Retail Manager

This is an exciting new role where you can make significant impact in growing the business – think growth hacking in Asia with an already proven product and business model.  As a key member of the APAC team, you will support the strategic and operational planning for the business in Asia, with the wider goal of serving customer needs and capturing outbound market opportunities in the region.  This key responsibility for this role is to figure out how to “go to market”, requiring strong commercial sense and communications/language skills.  This position reports to the GM of APAC in Viator (a part of TripAdvisor), and is based in the San Francisco HQ with frequent interaction required with locations in Asia.


Garner exposure to consumers through keeping up with market travel trends, culture, and new media/tech and deliver projects/solutions by working with the global Partnership, Localization, and Marketing teams including

  • Engage our various agencies to elevate their day-to-day work delivery and inspire them to innovate
  • Develop stories and media with PR agencies in region
  • Support in developing different types of successful partnerships (e.g. distribution, marketing) opportunities with companies in Asia through understanding partners’ commercial objectives and matching them to our business goals
  • Help ensure the success and compliance of existing partners and manage relationships
  • Optimize localization plans and quality to deliver the most relevant user experience for APAC travelers on our websites
  • Act as an ambassador for our APAC business, identifying and disseminating APAC market knowledge and opportunities across the organization


  • University degree
  • Fluency in English and at least one Asian language (Japanese or Korean preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically to develop successful partnerships, and to manage agencies
  • Experience working successfully on the phone, as well as with meeting partners in person
  • Excellent communication, negotiation & creative writing skills
  • Experience in Asian e-commerce market with ability to develop a deep understanding of the travel industry
  • Strong consumer mind-set and ability to think holistically about how to acquire customers
  • Detail-oriented and analytical-minded, fast-pace and agile
  • Strong functional knowledge of Microsoft Office and reporting systems and software
  • Experience working in a cross-team environment and communicating with senior management
