Senior Buying Manager

Massdrop is searching for a Senior Buying Manager to oversee two or more of our buying categories. Our Buying Managers lead a team of buyers or associate buyers as they build and expand our community. This includes providing guidance for all aspects of the purchasing cycle, including assisting with strategic planning, product selection, community relations, negotiations and vendor management. The successful candidate will have a “can-do” attitude and a willingness to roll up their sleeves and help out wherever necessary.

Our Buying Managers are pillars of the buying team and will play a key role in scaling our enthusiast community. This is a challenging position requiring negotiations experience, management experience and a passion for the enthusiast customer.

Here's what you'll do as part of the team:

  • Function as a leader among a team of managers - able to understand and execute upon feedback from leadership and distill that to overall team
  • Work closely with directors to constantly assess process and performance within the team and at the individual contributor level
  • Be a partner to leaders of cross functional teams to ensure we are working accurately and efficiently
  • Ability to collaborate and provide feedback to relevant peers and leadership team
  • Partner with the creative, logistics and community support teams to develop efficient and effective systems and processes
  • Monitor and engage with the community through polls and discussions
  • Provide training and onboarding for direct reports within your assigned categories

And here are the skills and experiences you'll need to be successful:

  • 2-4 years Buying, Planning, or related experience and business knowledge required
  • 2-4 years of relevant management experience
  • Demonstrated passion in or knowledge of enthusiast communities preferred
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Analytically minded and capable of making thoughtful time sensitive decisions based on available information
  • Strong computing skills including MS Office, including Excel, Google apps
  • Additional computing experience in online communities (i.e. forums, reddit) preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's Degree required.

This is a full-time on-site position at our San Francisco office.
