Senior Manager - CastleGate, Head of Inventory Planning (m/f)

Wayfair is looking for an accomplished manager with strong communication skills, proven track record of managing & growing teams, ability & desire to run a tight ship in a process-driven function to achieve clearly defined business goals and above-average quantitative and analytical skills.

You will lead our ever-growing team of inventory planners (currently 6 members strong, with plans to double this within 12 months), which is at the forefront of building an innovative, scalable business strategy for Wayfair to support business growth of 3-4x. Your team’s mission is to partner with internal account managers as well as with our suppliers to grow their business with Wayfair. Inventory Planning is the interface with both Wayfair Account Managers and our suppliers, developing insights to influence suppliers’ product assortment, production, supply chain and operations. Other focus areas include financial analysis and decision-making related to inventory replenishment and purchasing, managing excess inventory, promotional buys and improving overall inventory efficiency.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize sales, turns, in-stock rates of our suppliers in order to meet business KPIs
  • Manage the entire Inventory management process tightly, delivering agreed business KPIs
  • Coach our planners to successfully interact with suppliers in inventory management related conversations and handle supplier interventions personally where required
  • Identify and formulate improvement opportunities related to models & processes currently in place and partner with our in-house Inventory Management Analytics team to execute on them
  • Actively develop & coach planners to help them fulfill their career goals and grow professionally


  • significant years of work experience, with sufficient years of managing sizeable teams in a process-oriented function
  • Strong communication & persuasion skills honed in client-facing roles
  • Track record of delivering business results
  • Above-average quantitative and analytical skills
  • Advanced experience with Excel required, SQL is a plus but not a must
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements & role definition
  • Previous experience in supply change and inventory management a plus but not required
