General Assembly is partnering with the MiSK Foundation to train the next generation of tech leaders in Saudi Arabia. Together, GA and MiSK are launching data, web development, UX, and other tech courses at the MiSK Academy. By 2020, this will be one of the largest tech student communities in the Kingdom, with partnerships across most major Saudi and international companies.

General Assembly is looking for a Manager of Instruction and Student Operations to support this Academy in Riyadh.

General Assembly’s success depends on the passion and quality of our instructional teams, which are made up of top industry professionals from a variety of fields including data science, software development and design. The Instructor Manager’s role is to hire, coach and support these individuals as they work to facilitate effective instruction. Working in close partnership with local and Global teams, the Instructor Manager will ensure that GA classrooms are staffed with the right mix of instructors who are eager and ready to share their expertise with our students.

Additionally, this role will be responsible for student and course operations and seek to find process efficiencies on campus. You’ll be responsible for driving a positive experience for all incoming part time and immersive students, and streamlining all student on-boarding processes.


  • Identifying and selecting promising industry professionals to ensure the best practitioners are hired for instructional roles
  • Managing professional behavior, retention and ongoing professional development and growth of 6-8 direct reports
  • Planning and scheduling of instructors to ensure that all classrooms are properly staffed
  • Partnering with the Regional Director on forecasting instructional team needs and managing costs  
  • Observing instruction and providing coaching feedback to address issues and support continuous growth of instructors
  • Partnering with the local team to triage and support issues as they arise with instructors, students and other stakeholders
  • Participating in the Global Instructor Manager community, sharing local learnings and helping shape the future of instruction at GA
  • Owning and iterating upon current student onboarding (welcome email, prework, Schoology, Slack, Github, etc)
  • Collect student data pre-course and share results with Instructor Management team
  • Track and monitor customer service inbox and respond to all student inquiries within 24-48 hours
  • Help facilitate student orientation, including scheduling and sending event reminders
  • Off-board students by sending letters of completion to qualified students and removing students from in-course tools and resources

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in people management and/or coaching
  • Previous experience in education, adult learning or corporate training highly preferred
  • Proficiency in hiring and building teams
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
