THE OPPORTUNITY: LEAD ACCOUNTANT (the role & responsibilities can get larger)
AvantStay is looking for a hands-on Lead Accountant (direct Controller hire / promotion to Controller dependent on experience), but most importantly someone with the accounting and financial acumen to jump into a startup and own all of the accounting functions. The position will be working closely with the Finance Lead. The ideal candidate can demonstrate meticulous bookkeeping, understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting, analytics, and organizational skills
The ideal candidate will own day-to-day accounting, cash-management, budgeting, the development of key FP&A policies and procedures, as well as continuing to build AvantStay's operational accounting infrastructure.
•Own and manage all extensive bookkeeping tasks including but not limited to, accounts receivables and payables, bank reconciliation, maintain and balance general ledger, tax report filings, prepare various financial statements and individual property reports, etc.
•Assist CEO and Head of Finance with cash flow forecasting, borrowing needs, fundraising initiatives as the company raises additional rounds from leading venture capital firms.
•Develop streamlined process and input/upload accounting entries into QuickBooks, including monthly expenses, rental income, client payroll, and investment payables/distributions.
•Demonstrate aptitude and ability to support team members in a timely manner through various rounds of venture funding
•Maintain property management trust accounting software and CRM.
•Prepare monthly accounting and appropriate analytics reports.
•Prepare and edit correspondence, reports, and presentations as necessary on behalf of senior management to both current and prospective clients/investors.
•EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
•CPA is a plus, but not required.
•EXPERIENCE: Hands-on experience owning the accounting and utilizing QuickBooks Desktop for at least 2 years.
•Have 3+ years of solid bookkeeping experience.
•2-4 years of experience in general ledger accounting and month end reconciliation.
•2+ years in real estate, property management, or a closely related field (a plus but not requirement)
•Open to rolling up your sleeves and helping the company own various administrative duties.
•Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint); Knowledge of YARDI a plus.
•You will need to be organized and strategic in order to handle multiple responsibilities at once.
•Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal) is important to work effectively across multiple business units.
•Strong analytical skills and metrics orientation.
•Able to work quickly, accurately and flexible in managing changing priorities.
•A self-motivated professional who knows what needs to be done and operates with a sense or urgency, focus and discipline.

•Willing to take ownership and work the long hours to achieve deadlines as needed.
•Basic understanding of the Airbnb and VRBO platforms (Streamline vacation rental software is a bonus).
