Agile Coach/ Project Manager

Toronto, Canada

Our product is constantly evolving and we’re looking for an Agile Coach/Project Manager to help us refine and streamline our existing processes. We have incorporated Agile methodologies into our development process but we want an on-site coach to offer insight, guidance and direction to our existing Program Management team. We work in a highly collaborative and communicative environment and you need to work with high-performing teams and challenge them to improve even further. Transparency is a core value of our business and you will be called upon to facilitate internal and external communication, improve visibility, and radiate information.

You will report directly to the head of the PM team and be expected to coach and advocate at multiple levels and cross-departmentally to achieve comprehensive implementation of Agile practices throughout the organization. This is a fast-paced environment and we’ll expect you to deliver changes efficiently and effectively while maintaining a comfortable and sustainable pace. This is a blended role that will demand a high-level focus on teaching and mentoring the existing teams but also necessitate day-to-day involvement with individual projects – you will need to get your hands dirty from time to time.

You will:

  • Produce, implement and manage team agile metrics, evaluate existing team metrics and make recommendations for improvements, and provide training for product owners, engineers and management
  • Foster creativity, communication and innovation and a positive working environment
  • Coordinate and schedule the execution of deliverables and guide the team to self-organize and become hyper productive
  • Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to maintaining and managing the product backlog to deliver highest business value
  • Help our teams deliver quality software early and often, improved technical practices, eliminate waste, improve lead/cycle time for throughput, and reduce project risks

You have:

  • Three or more years of experience in software development in addition to comprehensive knowledge of the different SDLC methodologies (Agile, Incremental and Iterative, Scrum-ban, Lean, Waterfall, etc.)
  • Current involvement in the Agile community, certifications in Agile practices/coaching methods (CSP, CSM, etc.) and preferably three or more years of experience with Scrum or alternate Agile practice in a Scrum Master or facilitator role
  • Solid understanding of both the theory, application and tools associated with different Agile practices, including Scrum, Kanban, XP, Crystal, FDD, etc. (the more the better)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on experience with commonly used Agile techniques: Continuous Integration, Pair Programming, User Stories, Test Driven Development, Continuous Testing, Automated Testing
