Twilio’s Cloud Communication Platform makes communications easy and powerful, empowering designers and developers with the building blocks they need to innovate anywhere communications are needed and we are adding two new products to our portfolio.

We are seeking a Senior Software Designer to join our growing international team of Interaction, Visual and Brand Designers to help us develop the next generation of our Programmable Cloud Applications that will be available across multiple platforms and devices. Together with our team of Project Managers and Engineers we are looking for someone who has the experience and vision to help us achieve our ambitious goals.

About the job:

You will be a strong creator, collaborator and communicator who can bring a portfolio to the table that demonstrates the design of complete product experiences. As a senior you will be someone who not only has skills across the design spectrum UI/UX and Visual but has particular passion and understanding of how software and different platforms work.

Candidates will be required to create design concepts, develop user stories and articulate these their ideas by producing and maintaining design specifications that can be communicated to engineering. They will then be able to take these ideas through to product build.

The role is primarily based in London but occasional European and US travel will be required.


  • Lead design brainstorming and creative workshops.
  • Work with product teams and developers through the implementation phase.
  • Create complex interaction patterns and flows that are easily understood.
  • Be able to work in an agile environment and take ownership of individual product streams.
  • Work closely with other designers and engineers to take your ideas through to product build.
  • Help develop and manage a programmable UI library.
  • Have an understanding of user testing and how it fits within the product cycle.
  • Produce and and maintain design specifications that can be communicated to engineering.
  • Develop new and junior members of the team ensuring quality and standards in their work.
  • Work closely with Senior Design Managers and take responsibility in their absence.
  • Although coding is not required a general knowledge of different code bases and what they can do is essential.  


  • Qualified candidates should have at least 6 years of experience and be able to show a full and rich portfolio of projects you have worked on.
  • A minimum of a BA/HND in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Communication Design, Arts or equivalent experience.
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate end to end thinking, story telling and taking ideas to product development. 
  • Create user flows that map to different operating systems and devices.
  • Has knowledge of major market design systems, iOS, Material Design, MS Fabric.
  • Experience across the design spectrum UI/UX and visual with an understanding of software architecture and how it is applied.
  • Has knowledge of responsive design and the constraints that need to be considered.
  • Fluency in current software products including Sketch, Adobe CS and prototyping tools.
  • Experience creating and managing UI libraries and visual guidelines.
  • Demonstrable ability to work confidently with Product Managers, Development, Product Planning, Brand, Marketing and Usability
  • Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Understand and be able to work within technical constraints, business requirements and tight deadlines.
  • Has experience in managing others and be able to develop junior team members.
  • Be always curious and fanatical about detail. 

Bonus points:

  • Experience in front end coding or CSS
  • Prototyping skills (Principle, Framer, Origami, InVision)
  • Animation or motion skills (Adobe After Effects or similar)
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and practices
