Communications at FutureLearn
The communications team are responsible for the promotion and protection of FutureLearn’s reputation, consumer and business profile, primarily in the media and through external events and conferences.
The communications executive role will support the proactive and reactive communications activity to maximise FutureLearn’s position as the leading provider of social learning experiences.
In particular, the person in this role will primarily perform the following roles within the following areas: B2C PR campaign: Support the day-to-day B2C PR campaign, working with the team to find and respond to opportunities that will promote FutureLearn campaigns and courses. B2B PR campaign: Support the B2B PR campaign, developing campaigns that will promote FutureLearn’s corporate partnerships and ambitions in the corporate sector. Corporate campaign: Identify and pitch PR stories that will help promote FutureLearn in the MOOC, Edtech and higher education space. Conferences: Identify and research appropriate conference and speaker opportunities for FutureLearn. Maintain a conference spreadsheet that keeps the team up to date on current activities. Awards: Maintain a calendar of relevant awards for FutureLearn and support the preparation of submissions. Media monitoring: Scan media outlets each day to identify coverage and upload it to Slack/email key coverage to identified executives. Produce a monthly coverage round up in preparation for a monthly Thursday meeting. Thought Leadership: Work with the communications team to develop thought leadership content to run throughout the campaigns.
This role will also:Learn to handle incoming press enquiries; ensuring responses are accurate and meet media deadlines.Create press materials for launches, announcements, conferences, etc., across all major businesses and initiatives.Liaise with press and marketing contacts within FutureLearn Develop and maintain relationships with key journalists, bloggers and influencers.Identify crises issues, elevating to the Director/Head of Comms and the wider team as necessary.Work with the Director/Head of Comms and wider team to identify and create new opportunities to enhance the FutureLearn brand with key media – including national and international trade, national and specialist press.
