Now, MannaBay is looking to appoint a new Assistant Manager who will help oversee the daily operations of the property. This role will eventually move over to being a permanent Assistant Manager at our new luxury boutique hotel that is currently being built down the road from MannaBay - Camissa House. Reporting directly to Rhino Africa's Boutique Hotel Group General Manager, MannaBay's Assistant Manager will be ensuring that the hotel's operational team meets its goals of efficiency and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a young leader with 3 - 5 years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry, accustomed to all aspects of hotel operations, from dealing with complaints and maintenance issues to assisting in the kitchen when and where required. Applicants should possess strong business acumen, problem-solving ability, as well as the interpersonal skills to act as the point of contact between management, employees and customers.

As MannaBay's Assistant Manager, your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to) the following:

  • Assisting the Group GM in organising, planning and implementing strategy
  • Coordinating hotel operations
  • Ensuring schedules and objectives are met
  • Supervising and motivating hotel staff and organising shifts as the Head of Department for butler services
  • Monitoring operating costs, budgets and resources
  • Dealing with maintenance issues and inspections, ensuring compliance with licensing laws and health and safety regulations
  • Ensuring guest satisfaction through dealing with complaints, analysing guest reports, meeting and greeting clients, acting as concierge/activity guide and generating a welcoming atmosphere
  • Checking the roadworthiness of hotel vehicles and the validity of vehicle licenses
  • Ensuring that all hotel events and conferences run smoothly
  • Beverage purchases and stock control
  • Invoicing and payments
  • Driving hotel recruitment and training & development
  • Performing other related functions that may be assigned from time to time

MannaBay is run by a small, close-knit team where employees rely on one another for the smooth operation of the hotel. Candidates should be eager to join a family environment.

Requirements

MannaBay's Assistant Manager should possess:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in an Assistant Management position or a similar leadership role for a boutique property
  • A recognised degree or diploma in Hospitality Management or similar
  • A proven track record of successful financial management within the hotel operations environment
  • Excellent written and spoken command of English; knowledge of any other languages is a big plus
  • Knowledge of different cuisines, wines and beverages
  • A full understanding of hotel management best practices and relevant laws and guidelines
  • Exceptional customer service skills, an eye for detail, on-the-ball decision-making skills and a strong entrepreneurial mindset
  • Outstanding leadership qualities
  • The willingness to work flexible hours/shifts with changing working days/times
  • An affinity for technology, complemented by working knowledge of (at least) all aspects of MS Office, reservations systems and core hotel management software
