As Okta expands its footprint in the Identity-as-a-Service market, the growing adoption of our solutions has fueled the need for skilled, trained and certified professionals to administer, implement, develop integrations, and design sustainable identity and security architectures using Okta technologies.

The Certification Program Manager will have global responsibility for the development, growth, and management of Okta’s newly launched assessment program. You will be responsible for refinement of the overall certification program framework, working with SME teams and customer / partner steering committees to ensure stakeholder alignment. You will be familiar with exam development methods and partner with external vendors and internal SME teams to design effective, innovative testing strategies. You will implement and drive adoption of scalable processes, tools, and systems to track certifications. You will partner with marketing teams to define and launch communication channels to drive higher engagement in the certification community and help maintain the high value for the certification program. You will innovate and apply industry best practices that impact the quality, security, and effectiveness of our certification offerings. 

 

The successful candidate in this role will be an action-oriented, experienced certification professional looking to bring their seasoned experience to bear in a fast-paced, fast-growing company.  Only experienced, entrepreneurial, thought-leaders with interest in rolling up their sleeves to manage the full gambit of certification activity from budget and strategy to exam development to reporting, and even the distribution of candidate exam results need apply.   Job leveling to be set commensurate with experience.


Responsibilities 
 

  • Establish key performance indicators, evaluate needs, enhance certification framework and strategic direction of the program for long-term viability
  • Develop ROI model and execute on activities to maintain and grow a fiscally healthy technical certification program.
  • Implement industry standard processes for exam development and maintenance, in collaboration with vendors and internal SME teams.
  • Plan test refresh activity and define recertification requirements to ensure ongoing credential validity in a company with rapidly evolving software solutions.
  • Manage relationships with certification development and delivery vendors; track budgets.
  • Develop infrastructure and procedures for certification tracking and reporting.
  • Design marketing programs to drive awareness and reach for Okta certification.
  • Ensure a good balance of benefits and value tied to the certification program to ensure continued candidate engagement.
  • Stay abreast of trends in the certification industry and provide strategic input to guide the growth and success of the Okta program
  • Serve as certification program spokesperson with internal and external audiences; create presentations, track metrics, and communicate program status

 

Qualifications 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years experience managing high-stakes certification program in the IT industry; includes familiarity or direct management of key certification processes such as job-task analysis, item writing, accuracy review and psychometric modeling, exam delivery, and candidate tracking processes either directly or with vendor partners
  • Able to establish excellent relationships with extended training teams and other departments such as support, customers success management, sales engineering, and pro-serve
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate ideas and information effectively, clearly and concisely - - must be comfortable interacting with all levels within the organization, including C-level management
  • Self directed leader with demonstrated high levels of independence and productivity
  • Training or instructional design experience in a cloud computing technology company is preferred
