Team and Office Administrator

8i is a technology startup on mission to give people the best way to connect with each other and express themselves through holograms. We provide the easiest way to create, mix and experience human holograms that look real and feel as if they were in the same room. Our proprietary technology transforms video from an array of cameras into a photo-realistic hologram of a human that can be viewed from any angle, on any device for x-realities (virtual, augmented or mixed reality). Founded in May 2014, 8i is based in Wellington, New Zealand, and Los Angeles.

Our team brings together decades of experience from Weta Digital, YouTube, nVidia, Google, Microsoft, Apple, PayPal, Sony Computer Entertainment, Intel, DreamWorks, Digital Domain, ILM and Pixar. To date, 8i has raised over $14M from investors including RRE Ventures, Founders Fund Science, Horizons Ventures, Samsung Ventures, Dolby Family Ventures and Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and effective Team and Office Administrator to join our fantastic Wellington crew. Your mission will be to make our workplace thrive, by ensuring that our people are have what they need to succeed and that office facilities are maintained to an excellent level. You will be a practical problem solver with a ‘can do’ attitude and lots of energy for dealing with people.

  • Providing general support to the office manager, commercial manager and COO
  • Supporting key relationships with the property manager and building contractors, including cleaners, security, maintenance and others
  • Proactively maintain all office supplies including stationery, hardware, software licences, groceries, company swag (stickers, t-shirts etc)
  • Security - Coordinate access keys/visitor access for the 8i office
  • Coordinate company meetings and meeting room bookings
  • Maintaining company courier/shipping accounts and ensure mail is regularly checked
  • Being available to all staff to assist with their day-to-day queries and requests
  • Coordinating logistics for new starters and co-ordinating their equipment requirements
  • Onboarding new employees
  • Drafting and filing of employment contracts and employee data
  • Working with the office manager to plan and book domestic and international travel for 8i employees
  • Providing support with internal and external events logistics. i.e Christmas parties team functions, trade shows, executive dinners, etc.
  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field useful, but not essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable with Microsoft and Google suites of office management apps. Willing to work with various communications technologies and VR/AR technologies
  • Hardworking, highly reliable and organised
  • Loves dealing with people. Sense of fun and excitement to be part of a fast growing technology company
