Summary:

 

SSA is looking for an outstanding Data Scientist for our German offices in Munich or Cologne to contribute to the growth of our European Data & Analytics practice and related projects. In this role the Data Scientist will be focused both on contributing immediately to projects and supporting new business opportunities to drive actionable insights that deliver ROI to clients.  

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver appropriate analytic and statistical solutions to data to answer our clients’ business questions and discover new insights
  • Lead discussions with client executives and project teams to uncover opportunities for data science
  • Prepare and facilitate presentations and discussions of data analysis to support actionable business insights
  • Develop and deliver data science communications across SSA and the G100 network of companies
  • Support and enhance SSA’s core offerings in operational and organizational excellence through the application of data science
  • Keep skills current in the dynamic and evolving field of data science
  • Evaluate new analytics tools and methodologies for possible use
  • Work closely with client executives to assess/diagnose their business opportunities, identify and prioritize gaps in their business performance and develop and implement solutions that leverage data to achieve sustainable success
  • Collaborate with New Products and Innovation team on opportunities to productize intellectual property and develop new, unique tools

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ Years hands-on experience in data science or similar set of disciplines, within and across multiple industries (academic experience in analytics equivalent)
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, statistical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Strong data visualization, presentation and communication skills
  • Learning agility and ability to quickly understand and secure data from a variety of systems
  • Well-developed interpersonal/relationship building skills and a strong team player
  • Works well with less structured, more complex issues
  • Experience working as a consultant at a top-flight firm (not a must but seen positive)
  • Publications (including scholarly work) relevant to data science (not a must but seen positive)
  • Proven track record in delivering original analyses
  • Experience with a combination of skills and techniques such as Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Clustering/Segmentation, Advanced Regression, Random Forest, Bayesian Analysis, etc.
  • Experience with a combination of technologies and tools including R, Python, Java, Hadoop, Spark, SAS, RapidMiner, etc
  • Fluent in German and English (additional language skills, e.g. Italian or French, are a plus)
  • Masters preferred in fields such as Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similarly relevant field
