The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and execution of the packaging operations to ensure packaging goals and schedules are attained. This includes the responsibility of coordinating material, personnel, documentation and facilities required for an efficient and compliant flow of operations. It is also responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality is maintained and that established Standard Operating Procedures and batch records are carried out in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMP). The Packaging Supervisor will also drive continuous improvements in packaging and initiate, and investigate packaging issue to determine the root cause of packaging deviations. This position will also interface with Product Development, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Technical Services.
Oversee and direct the work assignments and resource requirements of the Packaging Personnel.
Assist with product transfers and new product introductions into packaging.
Assign work schedules to staff to ensure that the packaging schedule is attained.
Supervise the packaging activities to assure compliance with product and documentation quality and also with schedule attainment.
Performing line clearances, execution of “in-process” sampling/testing, and verification of documentation.
Direct Maintenance and Facilities activities to resolve equipment and facility issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime and production outages.
Evaluate and analyze process and labor standard hour variances to determine areas for improvement and adherence.
Oversee the training and qualification of operators and Group Leaders on equipment and processes.
Interface with other departments such as Product Development, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Technical Services for the transfer or development of the packaging process of new products.
DOCUMENTATION & COMPLIANCE
Create, issue, execute and approve change controls, SOPs and training documents.
Review and approve packaging documentation for batch processes to ensure compliance with cGMPs and Impax procedures and policies, including; master packaging records, room and equipment releases and in-process documentation.
Initiate investigations of packaging non-conformances and product complaints.
Maintain cGMP compliance in all functions of the packaging department.
TRAINING & SAFETY
Assist in the development, delivery, and tracking of training for the Hayward Packaging operation.
Ensure a safe working environment and in all functions of the packaging department.
Working knowledge of cGMPs required with 2-5 years of manufacturing, engineering or packaging experience.
2-5 years of experience in prior supervisory experience required.
Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Business Administration or Science preferred) or a solid experience in related fields.
2-5 years of experience writing procedures and work instructions.
2-5 years of experience in performing and documenting investigations for nonconformance or safety events.
Knowledge of Trackwise and SAP a plus
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to direct work groups effectively
Strong oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional team environment and to effectively interact with all levels of the company.
Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple activities and responsibilities.
Must have demonstrated ability to think strategically and meet deadlines.
Experience supervising and training staff effectively in a diversified environment.
Self-starter, work with minimal or no supervision.
