Position Overview:

In November 2016, Rent The Runway will be launching a San Francisco location, a unique and impressive retail space in the heart of Union Square. Ours isn’t just a store….it’s the Dream Closet of the website brought to life.  Instead of looking like a traditional store with mannequins and racks, ours will look like a closet stocked with bountiful options, as if to convey to the shopper that this is their actual fantasy closet, and they can take what they want from it.  Likewise, it won’t function like a traditional store – shoppers can sign up for a fitting room, connect to see more styles online, and pick up a last minute rental. We’ll also have our version of the ‘Genius Bar’, called the RTR Bar, to help customers post order (with pick up, drop off, and exchange). Our store will provide an elevated and inspiring setting for our one-on-one styling appointments with our team of expert stylists. The new SF location is an integral part of the future of retail for Rent the Runway, providing an upscale experience to every client that comes through the door, so they can feel their most confident and beautiful.

We are looking for a dynamic, fashion-forward, engaging, amicable and energetic leader to join the team at Rent the Runway, who will consistently deliver outstanding styling and customer service and bring our brand to life. This is a stylist role with leadership responsibilities, but is not limited to these duties.


  • Provide top notch styling and wardrobing service to clientele in a sophisticated environment
  • Communicate with clients pre, during, and post visit to our store whether they are walk in or appointments to ensure client’s needs are met and the most outstanding service is delivered
  • Prep and execute assigned styling appointments according to company standards, inclusive of delivering elevated styling and experience expectations
  • Educate clients about RTR, how it works and all of our different offerings
  • Able to speak to style and fit while making recommendations and adjust suggestions accordingly based on client feedback; utilize the RTR website as a fundamental tool
  • Meet and exceed accelerated volume and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals- including conversion, average dollar transactions and customer satisfaction scores as well as meet individual sales goals
  • Exhibit leadership skills when direct supervisor is not present
  • Ability to manage and monitor third party scheduling software
  • Demonstrate keen understanding of Rent the Runway products and services, using this knowledge to build sales
  • Responsible for booking appointments through existing client network
  • Increase loyalty and renting behavior through customer outreach and clienteling
  • Act as a liaison for VIPs and Media
  • Able to multi-task and handle large group appointments
  • Maintain the store to ensure customer experience is stellar


  • A minimum of 2-3 years styling experience
    • Exhibit elevated knowledge of Fashion and to be able to talk with authority about current trends, designers, fit, fabrications and color
    • Enjoy meeting and interacting with customers; demonstrate an enthusiastic and positive attitude and ability to built rapport and trust with clients
  • Flexible schedule and ability to commit a minimum of 40 hours per week including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Existing Client book preferred
  • Proven track record in attendance and performance
  • Business Acumen- written and verbal
  • Strong computer and presentation skills - with a focus on Mac products
