About the role

The IT Manager is responsible for the installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of internal systems hardware, software and telephony. This is an opportunity to set the future vision of IT at the company, as it would be the inception of an in-house IT position. The IT Manager will support and implement the essential technologies necessary for our daily operation. This individual must ensure that uptime, performance, resources, and security of the systems he/she manages meet the needs of our entire operation. The IT Manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing and overseeing all of Grovo’s internal IT activity and operations.  This person will develop an Information Technology strategy that supports the company’s mission and core objectives as we scale to multiple offices across the country.

Essential Functions

This is a full-time, salaried position. You will be responsible for supporting an entire IT infrastructure consisting of roughly 120 users. The following will be expected of the position:

  • Troubleshoot daily IT issues through JIRA- Phones, computers (primarily Mac and some PC), printers, and track key KPIs
  • Manage onsite PBX and VoIP system (we’re moving to a fully cloud-based system later this year)
  • Manage internal networking
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to address inefficiencies with creative solutions
  • Support A/V needs for company-wide presentations and events
  • Work closely with IT vendors and internal finance team to optimize quality of IT equipment while maintaining budget
  • Communicate important IT implementations and updates to the entire company, through thoughtful and concise emails
  • Be an active member of the security team and apply IT knowledge to our defined security controls, while assisting with policy enforcement
  • Take ownership of the internal IT room and wiring, and perform updates as needed

Professional Requirements

  • Bachelors degree (4-years), with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science
  • 5+ years IT Management experience
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networks (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancing, LAN/VLAN, VOIP, etc)
  • Experienced in all major operating systems (Mac OS, Windows, UNIX)
  • Experience with Cisco managed switches and other Layer 3 devices
  • Strong understanding with WLANs, specifically Cisco Meraki
  • Cabling experience is a plus
  • Customer-focused, personable, professional and detail-oriented
  • Ambitious self-starter who is able to tackle issues independently
  • In-depth experience with Atlassian JIRA, ServiceDesk, Confluence, and Google Apps for Work
  • Strong writing and verbal skills - ability to explain technical items to the layperson quickly and efficiently
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and proven ability to use the tools at hand to research and resolve problems
  • Being able to think quickly on your feet, while being thoughtful in your solutions
  • Experience troubleshooting A/V setups for video conferencing including Google Hangouts
  • Familiarity with MDM (such as JAMF Casper, Meraki, etc) Adobe CC, Microsoft Office Suite


  • Experience working at a growing, venture-backed startup
  • Ability to deal with fast-paced, high-pressure environments
  • Ability to troubleshoot without assistance from a Senior Engineer
  • Ability to work after hours and on weekends, as needed
  • Outstanding customer service and troubleshooting skills
