Wine Operations Associate

What we're looking for: Blue Apron is changing the way people experience home cooking, including fresh, pre-portioned ingredients, perfect wine pairings, and must-have kitchen tools. The Ecommerce team is looking for a Wine Operations Associate to help manage the operations and fulfillment network necessary to support our continuous growth in delivering wine and marketplace items to our customers for years to come.

As a Wine Operations Associate, you’ll be responsible for executing monthly operational processes, identifying and solving both logistical and conceptual problems as they arise, innovating around operations strategy to improve the profitability of our product, and much more. The ideal candidate will have an interest in operations and ecommerce, a passion for food and wine, and a can-do attitude.


About the role: 

  • Oversee the inbound logistics of finished goods to/from storage locations and our 3PL, and the delivery network of Blue Apron wine orders from our 3PL to our customers
  • Take ownership of the relationship with our 3PL to plan and execute outbound shipping activities
  • Support our 3PL in developing, implementing and executing across a variety of strategic initiatives focused on increasing efficiencies in logistics
  • Develop reports and dashboards to track and advance operations metrics, including monthly fulfillment analyses
  • Analyze FedEx delivery rates (including damages, returns, etc.) and look for process/cost improvements. Meet regularly with the operations team on companywide improvements
  • Partner with the packaging team to source new wine packaging to increase delivery rates and reduce costs
  • Collaborate with Customer Experience to continuously improve the delivery experience and respond to delivery exceptions and requests
  • Partner with Customer Experience, Engineering, Product and Data to develop, launch, and measure results from new logistics initiatives
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide solutions to a complex array of operational challenges
  • Partner with Creative to support the timeline for photoshoots (i.e. coordination of labels, samples, etc.)
  • Manage NetSuite activities for the wine team, including vendor setup, PO creation, and invoice approval as needed
  • Fully understand our winery operating model and use data to identify areas where we can improve business decisions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top school with strong academic performance
  • 3-5 years of experience in an operational role
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage independent timelines and weekly/monthly tasks with limited oversight
  • A self-starter who can power through ambiguity and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excel (required) and SQL (preferred)
