Data Scientist, Advanced Optimization

About the Role:

AdRoll’s Business Intelligence team provides insights for data-driven decisions across Product, Engineering, Account Management, Sales, Supply, Finance, Marketing, and other teams globally. We are seeking a Data Scientist to lead the design, execution, and analysis of experiments in collaboration with our engineering team to improve the effectiveness of our machine learning products.  

You will have a strong understanding of computer science, statistics, and experimental design. You are comfortable working with AdRoll’s massive data sets and possess the ability to articulate recommendations in a clear and concise way. We’re looking for a high impact candidate who can not only produce hard analytics and recommendations from AdRoll’s large data sets, but also develop hypotheses about why specific metrics are changing.


  • Design and run experiments to optimize user segmentation, creative design, campaign setup, and real-time bidding strategies
  • Build tools and algorithms to monitor and optimize campaign performance across AdRoll’s diverse group of over 20,000 clients
  • Partner with our engineering team to analyze and improve our scoring algorithms as we continue to rapidly iterate on our machine learning infrastructure
  • Work with other analysts to analyze industry trends and client feedback to improve our ability to grow revenue and achieve our client’s goals at scale
  • Actively identify performance and technical issues and escalate to account managers and engineering


  • B.A./B.S. in Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Economics, Finance, or a similar field
  • Database experience including proficiency in SQL
  • Coding experience with languages such as R, Python, C/C++
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fun and fast-paced start-up environment
  • A roll up your sleeves attitude
  • A great sense of humor

  • Experience with BI tools like Tableau and Qlikview
  • Masters degree in statistics, math, or a related field
