Illustria's Director of Business Development will be leading the business development function, and will report directly to our Head of Operations. Our existing BD process works well, and we are looking forward to having someone dedicated to this role full-time. This person will start conversations with Illustria’s potential new clients, which we refer to as Potential New Members, and will learn about their business and challenges, so as to best present Illustria’s value to them. We work primarily with growing tech and tech-enabled companies, with existing market traction (not just funding), so experience in or knowledge of the mid/later-stage startup space is ideal.

You understand how strategic partnerships and high-quality creative work drive transformative business results. You are highly personable, polished, and persistent. You love getting on the phone to call C-suite leaders. You are confident and thoughtful in determining which new Members will benefit Illustria, as well as which we will deliver the most value to.You have at least 2 years of experience in business development / sales, including 1 year responsible for closing deals, and you have worked in a team environment with others also responsible for business development.
You are a strategic thinker and a relentless, optimistic executor. You are skilled at talking to people, you instill trust and rapport, and your natural curiosity enables you to find answers you didn’t expect, when learning about a potential Member’s needs and plans. You successfully explain to Potential New Members why Illustria’s solutions and approach add value for them. You know how to challenge and persuade at the same time. You are organized and can juggle multiple ongoing conversations at once. You exercise good judgment, and you’re aware of the responsibility you take on when mutually vetting new partnerships. You are confident and believable; you have excellent presentation and communication skills. You're ready to take ownership of new business as a relationship-starter and revenue-grower. You’re a team player, and will connect new business to the full Illustria studio.
