IT Support Technician

8i is a technology startup on mission to give people the best way to connect with each other and express themselves through holograms. We provide the easiest way to create, mix and experience human holograms that look real and feel as if they were in the same room. Our proprietary technology transforms video from an array of cameras into a photo-realistic hologram of a human that can be viewed from any angle, on any device for x-realities (virtual, augmented or mixed reality). We need you to help us maintain and grow our systems so we can go faster. Your job will be to operate and tune Linux systems, servers, clusters, devices and related components to ensure high levels of availability and security of supported services. You will also participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure our system provisioning and maintenance is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

You will be:

  • Responsible for deployment and management support of Linux x86 & IBM Unix servers
  • Perform installations/patching of operating system, software installation, and system backups - data recovery
  • Perform Capacity and Performance Management
  • Follow Change Control based on process guideline (ITSM).
  • Perform off-hours maintenance as required and on-call support.
  • Develop/detail technical specifications and provide technical direction.
  • Create scripts using Bash and Python
  • Hardware troubleshoot (Dell, HP, IBM) tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance (firmware/security updates)
  • Troubleshoot software issues
  • Efficient communication with different groups
