Raspberry Pi Foundation is hiring a

Senior Product Manager

Salary: £45-55k
Contract: One year fixed-term contract
Hours: Full-time, part-time, or flexible
Location: Cambridge

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is on a mission to put the power of digital making into the hands of people all over the world. It’s a deliberately bold ambition and, while we know there’s a lot more to be done, we’ve made a good start.

Since launching our first product in February 2012, we have sold over 10 million Raspberry Pi computers and helped kick-start a global movement to get more people involved in computing and digital making. We’ve trained thousands of teachers and engaged hundreds of thousands of young people in our educational programmes, including through a network of over 6,000 Code Clubs. Our free educational resources are used by millions of people every year.

We’re now looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the development of new web services, and the evolution of existing ones. This will help bring our free educational resources to millions more people around the world.

You will be responsible for the full product management cycle, acting as a product champion within the Foundation and with external stakeholders. You will be an outstanding product manager, able to work across the organisation to bring together colleagues from education, outreach, communications, and engineering to balance competing demands and develop a clear product roadmap.

You don’t need to be an expert in our field (teaching people how to make things with computers), but you will have a proven record of quickly developing an understanding of users and must be able to demonstrate excellent research and analytical skills. You must also be comfortable discussing technology decisions and approaches with engineering teams.

Main responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with technical, creative, marketing, research, and strategy colleagues on digital products to increase access to digital making and to maximise the impact of online learning experiences.
  • Design and agree on product specifications, ensuring system configuration and operating processes are released efficiently to the existing product environment.
  • Implement go-to-market plan and value proposition working with all stakeholders to identify dependencies; manage the process from conception to launch in a timely and effective manner followed by timely iterations of the product.
  • Be the voice of the user inside the business. Must be passionate about user experience.
  • Ensure the product is internationalised by modifying for new markets, countries, and cultures.
  • Engage in testing the product and talking to users. Get first-hand feedback and adjust accordingly.
  • Set and measure the goals of the product by analysing data of both current and new products.
  • Consult and liaise with the management team and with other major stakeholders.
  • Person Profile

  • 5+ years of commercial experience as well as 2+ years of experience leading product teams, ideally within organisations focussed on education.
  • Experience and demonstrable success in defining, developing, and launching social and/or educational products, technologies, and platforms.
  • Excellent product development skills and knowledge of product life-cycle management including an understanding of agile methodology.
  • Knowledge of technology development and implementation with a strong understanding of agile delivery principles and software engineering processes and practices
  • Understands and prioritises the needs of the product’s users and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience of making product decisions based on research, usage data, or predictions of either.
  • Comfortable working with a technically focussed team
  • Excellent teamwork skills and, ideally, some experience of remote or distributed teams.
  • Keen interest in digital making, education, and the ecosystem that surrounds it.

  • Deadline to apply: Monday 28th November at 9am
Interviews: 6th and 7th December - please let us know in your cover letter if you can't make that date
