Technician II, Electronic Equipment Controls

Position Summary:

Responsible for the troubleshooting, repair and upkeep of equipment controls systems including PLCs, PCs, VFDs or robotics. Must be able to work on multiple systems as required which may include, but is not limited to Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Hydraulics, and Electronics systems. Provides support to Project Engineering and Validation with the development of mechanic and electrical equipment specifications, helps with factory / acceptance tests and installations and provides training to mechanics and operators.

For Calibrations, employee is responsible for the troubleshooting, repair and calibration of manufacturing equipment, utility system and laboratory instrumentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Note: Duties and responsibilities depend on whether the employee has a calibration or electronics background.

Inspect, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and / or electronic equipment including PLCs, PCs, controllers, VFDs, etc. Performs routine, preventative and predictive maintenance. Participates in equipment rebuild and upgrades.

Assist in the development of maintenance procedures, preventative, routine and predictive work instructions, training and troubleshooting manuals, validation documents, protocols and corrective / preventative actions.

Participate in equipment installations and relocations. Provides timely notification to management of any discrepancy that has a direct or indirect impact on product quality.

Provides superior customer service. Interacts with equipment and service vendors for troubleshooting, installation, improving reliability and / or efficiency purposes. Initiates purchase order for parts, test tools, equipment, etc. to maintain an adequate inventory.

Follows safe working practices while performing assigned duties. Identifies reports and may recommend corrective action for any unsafe conditions to a supervisor, or department manager. Adheres to safety procedures including, but not limited to wearing product specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, safety glasses, lock out, confine space and other company policies and procedures. Follows all cGMPs and ensures that product is manufactured according to procedure and current Good Manufacturing Practices. Maintains training readiness.

Duties of calibration technician in addition to what is listed above, includes the following: Maintain greater than 98% on-time calibration of all instruments. Critical instruments are calibrated by the third week of the month. All plant and / or laboratory instruments are maintained in a calibrated state for the application. All instrument changes follow the company’s change control policy. Maintain 100% training readiness for calibration procedures. Maintain calibrated standards. Maintain additional standards are kept in-house at all-time where financially feasible. Prepare all reports in a timely manner including any OOT reports which must be routed within 4 hours of discovery. Repair, purchase and / or replace all broken or malfunctioning instruments. Maximize the use of placards for ease of viewing hard to see calibration stickers. Maximize use of loop calibrations.


(Tues-Sat Afternoon Shift 2:00pm - 10:30pm)

Associate Degree (mechanical/electronics) or equivalent.

2-5 years of maintenance experience in support of production operations is required (Manufacturing Floor)

Experience in Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Food, Cosmetic, Beverage or relevant work is preferred

For the electronic candidate, PLC, PCs, VFDs, and various controllers experience is required.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Knowledge of Computerized Calibration Management System (CCMS) a plus.
