About the Position:

In December 2016, Rent The Runway will be launching its NYC Flagship Store, an impressive 4,500 sq foot retail space in the heart of the Flatiron District. Ours isn’t just a store….it’s the Dream Closet of the website brought to life.  Instead of looking like a traditional store with mannequins and racks, ours will look like a closet stocked with bountiful options, as if to convey to the shopper that this is their actual fantasy closet, and they can take what they want from it.  Likewise, it won’t function like a traditional store – shoppers can sign up for a fitting room, connect to see more styles online, and pick up a last minute rental. We’ll also have our version of the ‘Genius Bar’, called the RTR Bar, to help customers post order (with pick up, drop off, and exchange).

The ideal candidate for this position is a driven, self-motivated, and energetic, who will consistently deliver exceptional customer service and bring our brand to life. All duties and responsibilities will contribute directly to the growth and expansion of our business, and are subject to change.


  • Ability to articulate the functionality of the store
  • Greet customers; check in customers for appointments or direct walk ins through store process
  • Ability to introduce appointments and walk ins to stylist or sales associate
  • Assist answering phone calls
  • Assist with check out
  • Assist with cleanliness of store and help recovering the floor with inventory
  • Enjoy meeting and interacting with customers; demonstrate an enthusiastic and positive attitude

Position Requirements:

  • 1-2 years retail experience
  • Self-motivated and confident in communication skills
  • Good multi-tasking skills
  • High energy level
  • Interest in fashion is strongly preferred
  • Must be willing to work evening and weekend hours
  • Ability to commit a minimum of 20 hours a week.
