Listing Copywriter

Weedmaps is seeking an exceptional Copywriter who will bring innovation and creativity to our team and can take on assignments big and small. You will be responsible for writing and editing content that drives brand awareness, product adoption and sales enablement efforts. You will be expected to have stellar verbal and written communication skills. You are adept at crafting informative and engaging content and copy that helps emphasize Weedmaps’ brand identity while maintaining brand integrity for our paid clients.

You will be responsible for the personality, depth and consistency of our clients’ voice across all channels that is represented by our brand.  Key areas of focus will include biographies specific but not limited to physicians, dispensaries, testing labs, smoke shops, deliveries, strains and products.

From Product features to social media proofreading. From catchy headlines to in depth educational materials, you must be able to write and/or edit across the spectrum of communications: headlines, body copy, long form, short form and naming conventions.  

The Weedmaps Listing Copywriter is self-organized. They think fast and execute faster, both independently and interdependently. Most importantly, they have a voice that's as authentic, engaging, dynamic, and interesting to the people we seek to reach.


  • Develop concise, compelling copy that connects with our audience and drives business action
  • Works with marketing and cross-functional teams to develop and/or execute concepts, and strategic storytelling ideas across a range of business channels and marketing mediums
  • Contributes to the development of brand standards and copy guidelines
  • Research local verbiage and trendy terms to identify with a local consumer audience
  • Ensure work is reviewed/approved by appropriate stakeholders across Marketing, Legal, Executive team, 3rd party partners and other functional teams as required
  • Interview local listings to develop functional biography content
  • Obsess over quality and uphold the high standards of our brand along with client brands
  • Compile unique content specific to individual dispensaries by localizing searches leading to adequate rankings and traffic in order to build good client rapport
  • Improve respective biographies using targeted keywords to increase traffic and search engine rankings to delivery services in specific and surrounding regions
  • Develop unique physician biographies for each doctor listing to enhance SEO and provide consumers with a satisfying and reassuring user experience before the initial consultation
  • Utilize current research and implement findings to create detailed profiles for individual cannabis strains and their effects on consumers
  • Create new content for industry brands and products allowing both clients and consumers to gain a broad knowledge of available items before purchase
  • Optimize biographies for individual testing labs to reassure clients and consumers of quality and professionalism before testing/purchasing medicine
  • Build unique content relative to individual smoke and head shops utilizing specific brands and products to provide optimal SEO functionality and accessibility for consumers


  • 2+ years of copywriting or equivalent experience in brand and product marketing
  • Ability to translate complex subject matter into clear, relatable, and exciting content
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic and fast moving environment – strong prioritization skills are critical.
  • General knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as the ability to learn internal software programs
  • Great, positive attitude, high energy, innovative, charismatic, strong work ethic and detail oriented
  • Highly collaborative and respectful of others and their contributions
  • Knowledge, passion and experience writing for technology, lifestyle, and marijuana industry and culture preferred
