ABOUT THE ROLE

The Global Controller will own all global accounting functions for Hired and provide day-to-day leadership for the company’s accounting operations. This hands-on individual will help set accounting policies and improve/automate accounting processes in a fast growing environment. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting leadership at growth companies, and demonstrated experience leading teams through periods of substantial change. The Global Controller will report to the CFO. 

WHAT WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH

  • Build and manage the team in general accounting (payables, payroll, receivables, payroll, revenue recognition, etc.)
  • Lead all accounting operations including month-end close, tax, audits and other required compliance reporting
  • Review monthly financial statements and analyze trends to ensure results are accurate
  • Review current accounting processes and develop growth strategies that will shorten the close process while allowing for a rapidly increasing volume of transactions in multiple countries
  • Oversee enterprise accounting system
  • Work with management team on international expansion including identifying and implementing the appropriate systems to provide the accounting structure for the worldwide organization
  • Own equity administration
  • Work closely with the Finance team on month end close, budgeting, forecasting and other ad-hoc analyses

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

  • CPA
  • Bachelors degree in a related field, Masters degree a plus
  • 7-10 years experience working in a variety of accounting roles, preferably in both private and public company settings
  • 5+ years experience leading accounting in a growth company
  • Strong US GAAP and compliance background
  • Netsuite experience
  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling accounting processes, systems and teams while overseeing day-to-day operations
  • Track record as influential thought leader who tackles problems head-on and collaborates with all levels of leadership for lasting change; keen ability to solve critical business issues
  • Success rapidly launching and scaling international accounting operations, especially in North America and Europe
  • Proven ability to build and lead a high-performance team
  • Instinctive reliance on data and metrics to support a position or approach
  • Stellar communication skills with the ability to quickly formulate, convey, and advocate for ideas with confidence and conviction  
  • Results-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to deliver a high volume of high-quality work on a daily basis
  • Experience accounting operations in a start-up environment is a big plus!
