Crowdtap is a fast-growing, profitable, VC-backed startup that has been named one of the top 3 places to work in Marketing & Advertising in 2015 by Fortune Magazine. Our platform makes it easy for Fortune 500 brands to inspire consumers to create authentic content, drive unmatched social advocacy, and access real-time insights.
About the Role:
We work in small autonomous teams where the engineers are involved from the very beginning and are expected to heavily influence the product and see it through from idea to validation and optimization. We practice continuous deployment (deploying to production multiple times a day). We also are very proud of our open-source contributions. Finally, and most importantly, we value work-life balance by working reasonable hours and encourage side projects.
Our stack is Ruby but we're always trying out different technologies to ensure we're using the best tool for the job. That means that we're not as concerned about whether a candidate is a perfect match against our current stack vs. how quickly they can pickup new things. We're looking for someone who can mentor on engineering best practices and has a deep understanding of Ruby, Rails and how to properly build out scalable platforms
A Little About You:
You love building web applications and solving both hard technical and product problems to deliver a product that you can be proud of. To say that you are a quick learner is a vast understatement. You are able to learn and operate within new technologies in the time it takes most people to find the “on” switch of their new computer.
What we’d like to see:
3+ years Ruby on Rails experience
Well versed in Rails best practices and philosophy
Strong TDD advocate (minitest/Test::Unit)
Expert-level understanding of Rails, Ruby, and either Postgresql or Mongo (ideally all of the above)
Experience working at scale
Comfortable working in a production environment
Looking for performance culture
What we’d love to see:
Proficient in any of following: AngularJS, React, Kafka
Pragmatic approach to development.
Experience (ideally, expertise) in a language other than Ruby, and a framework other than Rails
Demonstrable coding history (github commits or projects, shareable coding samples, etc)
About the team:
At Crowdtap, every team member spends every day moving the business forward together, from engineering to business development. We love what we do, and we like each other a lot. Every Crowdtapper has an entrepreneurial attitude, a love for problem solving, collaborating, and lots of hustle. We are humble, positive, hilarious and have a genuine love for getting things done! Not to mention our perks (snacks, dog-friendly office, insane parties). We are incredibly proud of our award winning culture.
