Partnership & Fundraising Manager

New York Public Radio is looking for an experienced Partnership & Fundraising Manager to lead the fundraising and strategic partnership development for a new digital initiative that will transform New York Public Radio. This role is to support the outreach to potential content and technology partners and funding prospects (including businesses, foundations, and individual donors) and to secure the funding needed to complete development and launch this new initiative.

This is a moment of evolution in media and the work facilitated by this position promises to redefine what public radio can be in the digital age. Enterprise journalism, innovative programming that elevates new voices and new ideas, music and cultural experiences that serve larger audiences on the radio, through digital, live events and community engagement will be fueled by this effort and will provide a much needed independent and inclusive source in our media ecosystem.

The Partnership and Fundraising Manager will play an integral role connecting strategy with implementation. S/he will be a strategic thought partner for key players in this effort, will help manage key relationships, work on proposal strategies and messaging, and will oversee the overall management and reporting on fundraising and partnership efforts. This is a temporary, full-time, 6 to 9 month contract role.

Reporting jointly to the VP of Development and the Chief Digital Officer, the Manager will work in partnership with the President and CEO, the VP of Business Development and key members of the New York Public Radio Board of Trustees and its Digital Task Force. S/he will work as part of the larger Development Department team which is raising funds in support of the organization’s ambitious strategic plan.


Job Responsibilities

  • Identify potential partnership and funding opportunities across the digital, media, non-profit, and foundation landscape
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in identifying the strategic positioning and communication strategy for potential partners and funders
  • Develop specific priority-based value propositions for prospects ranging from $100K to $10M+
  • Synergize complex ideas into easy to understand stories and narratives in all materials and proposals
  • Author, assemble, manage, and deliver slides & presentations
  • Prepare funding and business partnership proposals
  • Own prospect lists, timelines, deliverables, and schedules
  • Arrange and coordinate meetings with prospects
  • Organize, track, and maintain account and contact information, as well as prospect updates
  • Represent NYPR in meetings
  • Ensure internal stakeholders are briefed and prepared for all meetings
  • Execute in a fast-paced, highly iterative environment


  • 3+ years in partnerships, business development, or fundraising in a digital environment
  • BA or BS degree (MBA preferred)
  • Superior communication, presentation, and writing skills
  • Proven track record of doing deals and closing funding
  • Facility for identifying key prospect concerns and opportunities
  • Deep knowledge of digital media landscape
  • Strong project management and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to think strategically and act tactically
