WHO YOU ARE
We like to hire smart people with kind hearts and a healthy sense of humor. We are seeking someone with 1 - 2 years of work experience or someone who is a recent college grad to work for an adult education program offering part-time coding classes. You might be right for this role if all or most of the following describes you accurately:
- You’re flexible and humble - no job is too big or small for you. You’re scrappy and can easily switch between modeling student data to cleaning a classroom if that’s what needs to be done.
You’re the person who talks to everyone in a carpool. You are fascinated by other people and can’t help striking up a conversation with someone new. You’re approachable and humble yet confident - and you have a large network of friends and acquaintances who have benefitted from knowing you.
You sweat the small stuff. You care about grammar, organizing your workspace and being on time. Nothing makes you happier than getting to inbox zero and you wouldn’t dream of giving anything less than 110% to a task you’ve been assigned.
You’re mission driven. You’re an idealist who firmly believes that education can change the world. You want to do work that improves other people’s lives and you’re motivated by knowing that you’re making a difference.
You’re flexible and collaborative. You’re familiar with startups and love the “all hands on deck” mentality. You don’t get overwhelmed by ambiguity and you welcome change, even if it means that you’re job description is changing every week.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Student Success Coordinators are one of the primary touch-points for our students. Equal parts business operations and student experience, this role meets both the needs of the students in the classroom while also driving the hard core operations that keep ed-tech companies running. Here are a few things you'll do in this role:
- Monitor student experience in the classroom. You will provide in-class support to students across multiple campus locations throughout New Jersey. You’ll meet with students to gauge their satisfaction with the course offerings and review their standing in the program.
Track student success data. You will review homework and attendance metrics on a daily basis for all students to identify those who may be at-risk for not completing the program and work with the Student Success Manager to follow up.
Implement action plans. You will develop and implement action plans for students who are not meeting graduation requirements and escalate at-risk students to the Student Success Manager.
Respond to student communication. As the primary point of contact for our students, you will answer their logistical questions, help them find the right form to submit their absence request and in general respond in a timely way to their questions and feedback.
Collect student feedback. On a weekly basis, you will collect student feedback data and prepare a report for the Student Success Manager for all classes with feedback from students on their experience and learning in our program.
Working hours: Our classes are offered nightly from 6:30 - 9:30 PM and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. The working hours for this role are 12:30 - 8:30 PM between Monday - Thursday and Saturdays from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
Other: Previous web development experience or interest in programming is definitely a plus! The Student Success Coordinator will report directly to the Student Success Manager. Please note that this program is offered to adult students who are looking to change their lives and find a new career as a web developer - professionalism is important!
