Summary:
We are looking for a Testing Engineer to join our Guidewire Production Services (GPS) center in Dublin, Ireland.

The applications we build are large and extraordinarily complex, and they have to of course work reliably.  In order to ensure our customer’s deployed production systems are operating at their peak, we must have rigorous and dedicated quality assurance practices.  We’re looking for an experienced Testing Engineer that can help us build leverageable automation frameworks and roll up their sleeves to help us test our customer implementations quickly, efficiently, and accurately within a hosted environment.  This role will report to our Lead Testing Engineer that is part of our overall GPS team. 

 

The Role:

The Guidewire Services Center in Dublin, Ireland was established to help meet a growing global customer demand for expertise in implementing Guidewire’s products.  Recently, you may have heard of the drive for corporate enterprises to deploy applications in the cloud.  This trend will impact our customers and industry in the same way it is forcing other industries to evolve.  The Guidewire Production Services (GPS) is part of our Guidewire Services Center in Dublin, Ireland.  This team will deploy, enhance, and maintain our customer’s Guidewire product instance(s) in a hosted environment.  The GPS Testing Engineer will work as part of a team that will own the design, development, and maintenance of an automated and manual testing framework that we will leverage across our customer’s hosted application deployments.  Furthermore, this person will be hands on and will be the primary resource that will be involved in the development of both manual and automated test data in order to ensure our team’s defects and enhancements are working as designed.    

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work in Dublin, Ireland with the potential for very occasional travel internationally, specifically to our customers and to team building events.
  • Form a working knowledge of Guidewire's suite of products in order to understand their key functions, and to understand the underlying technology that you will tap into in order to design and develop a scalable automated testing framework. You will need to become certified by spending your first two months in training to become a subject matter expert.
  • Take development ownership of the hands-on development effort related to manual and automated testing required for our customer’s deployments
  • Assist with the strategy and framework design for a scalable, reusable, extendable, and robust automated testing framework that will serve as the foundation for quality assurance activity for our managed services customer deployments.
  • As necessary, work with client business teams to understand their system requirements to the level necessary to build robust testing frameworks that ensure a quality Production level system.
  • As necessary, work with our GPS developer consultants to understand business requirements to the level necessary to design testing frameworks that will drive the quality assurance process for maintenance releases and enhancements.
  • Contribute to a team environment that will have both local and remote leadership.
  • Aspects of the position involve commitment to customer SLA’s. While the GPS Testing Engineer will work during normal business hours, occasional high priority work outside of established business hours may be necessary (i.e., to help with urgent customer issues)

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (mandatory)
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills (mandatory)
  • Proven experience with designing and/or implementing scalable automated test frameworks from scratch, especially those using Selenium and TestNG or JUnit (or equivalent)
  • Comfortable in designing and writing manual test scripts
  • Strong scripting skills necessary to assist with the development of test scripts
  • Flexible, enthusiastic approach to work including a strong desire to learn new products and a new business domain
  • Experience working in an environment with cloud/off-premise enterprise applications
  • Experience working with leading cloud platform Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) providers such as AWS or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with a commercial customer incident tracking or CRM system
  • Experience using a software defect tracking system such as JIRA
  • Ability to prioritize work effort based on a dynamic work environment

Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent from higher education institution
  • Exposure to broad technical skills such as Object Oriented programming (JAVA , C#, or similar), relational databases (data modeling/SQL), web UI (design and development), XML, application architecture
  • Software development lifecycle exposure (AGILE) preferred
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
