Sr DevOps Engineer

The successful candidate for this role will have the right combination of DevOps and System Administration skills to help continue and refine MeetMe’s automation efforts.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in strategic, capacity, and performance planning for server infrastructure

  • Develop internal tools and write custom integrations for various applications and vendor APIs

  • Maintain and refine operating system installation and configuration automation processes

  • Identify and recommend new technologies, both proprietary and open source that will further benefit our systems and network operations, from network appliances to cutting-edge tools for deployment, configuration management and trending/analytics

  • Participate in the development of internal tools to create a unifying data-center operations portal tying together inventory control, systems deployment and configuration management.

  • Analyze and recommend new directions for all layers of our operational software stack, from operating systems, distributions and to user-space daemons to other platforms including SAAS and PAAS.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • 5+ years of experience in networking and systems administration, preferably in large-scale data center environments.

  • Expertise with configuration management tools such as Chef and deployment management tools such as Cobbler or roll-your-own PXE and Kickstart.

  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as Vagrant, VirtualBox, and VMware ESX.

  • Ability to configure *nix based services such as Apache httpd, nginx, Postfix, CouchDB, PostgreSQL, Hadoop, Graphite, RabbitMQ, Redis, Squid, collectd, etc.

  • Demonstrable proficiency in Ruby development and shell scripting

  • Experience administering Sensu or another modern monitoring platform

  • Ability to build .rpm packages

  • Working knowledge of Git and code management

  • Understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite and OSI model including application protocols such as: HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, TFTP, AMQP, etc.

  • Authentication protocols such as LDAP and Radius

  • Data Center Architecture – Network, Servers, Storage

  • Deep knowledge of Linux across multiple distributions, including kernel configuration and performance management/tuning. 

  • Experience designing, implementing and maintaining an infrastructure on an Amazon Web Services (AWS) framework.
