We are growing our Technical Operations team to meet the demands of our rapidly growing user community and have a terrific opportunity for a senior Python developer with formidable System Administration experience and excellent communication skills. The focus of this position is on automation, monitoring and operations tool development, working within the System Administration team. This is an expert-level position in our San Francisco, CA office.



As a member of our Technical Operations team, you will participate in design decisions and help run the company's core high-volume Debian Linux infrastructure. Your primary focus will be authoring and maintaining the tools that our System Administration, Datacenter Operations and Product Development teams rely on to monitor and manage our systems and network. This is a terrific role for a seasoned professional with experience in a wide range of areas.



  • You must be self-motivated, capable of managing your time well, and work efficiently without close supervision
  • Minimum 3 years Python development experience
  • Strong understanding of Version Control Systems (git, Perforce)
  • Extensive experience with UNIX/Linux administration
  • Operational experience with Configuration Management Software (Chef, Salt Stack, Ansible, Puppet)
  • Operational experience with configuring, managing, and automating Jenkins CI
  • Operational experience with System management and monitoring technologies
  • Experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting multi-tier, high-volume, production web installations
  • Familiarity with Linux internals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills



  • Operational experience with one or more of the following: Consul, Vault, ELK, Docker, LXC
  • Build system automation design
  • Significant contributions to open source projects
  • BA/BS or better in Computer Science or a related field
